Hey everyone, I’m #newhere. I’m interested in #atheism, #photography, #science, and #skepticism

I have a long journey in diaspora.

Came to diaspora when G+ closed years ago, then the instance closed and I moved to diasporasocial, net
That server was disconnected days ago. All of this week it shows as Error 500, with no other information, and no heads up from the admins. A friend here suggested I join. Now I have to figure out how to regain content, and contacts.

I have been a photographer (never a professional) for over 40 years. Now retired from a long career in IT, am devoting most of my time to travel and photography.

Will post more when I regain contacts, and figure out how to connect in diaspora again.

Hello, fellow refugee. Glad you found your way back. You may find a lot of your contacts in the daily #checkin post. diaspora.glasswings.com/posts/…

:-) Welcome back. (Put up your famous profile pic so people will easily see it's you!)

It gets easier - certainly much easier than for a lot of people after up to 8 years engaged/comfy in G+
You'll see, it will all re-propagate into your feed, and it's easy to reconnect like nothing much happened. Many others from diasporasocial are magically reappearing, like shifting walls in Hogwarts... And many have never left "here". :-)

Q: I found a few contacts at diaspora.glasswings.com - I cannot add them as it requires my to sign in to diaspora.glasswings.com

Why and how to cross-pollinate from here?

in reply to Alex Feldstein

Most of us switched to glasswings when social died. Maybe @Muse or @Andrew Pam can help you, as they run glasswings.

@Alex Feldstein You should be able to add anyone from any pod that you can see from your logged in account as a contact. You will need to use the link from your own pod though, not a link to the same person on another pod where you are not a member. If you use a search engine it may return results from pods where you are not a member, and you will need to find the same people via the links on your own pod rather than using the search engine results.

@Alex Feldstein
As he says!
Or the lazy man’s approach is: just look for familiar people you can see now and going forward, and go to their profile page (being sure it’s the same as you see in the feed, not diasporasocial, and add.

I know, like you, I see various incarnations, of myself and others! Helpful to see familiar avatars, but also check that the address isn't diasporasocial.net. Some who had no prior or alternate addresses may still be "shopping" or studying how to rejoin diaspora*, and I'm hopeful they'll be back too. For us 'old timers who have been to this rodeo before', it's really a delight to see how easy it is to 'rejoin'.

Thank you @Otto Centrey.
It is fortunate that federation between pods preserves old posts.
You can just search for your old identity, but on a different pod that had some followers. Here is what I just left behind at diasporasocial.
