"We forget what we don’t want to remember. While I understand that impulse, there are dangers embedded in our forgetfulness. This is especially true for anyone living in Flash Flood Alley."

Building on rivers or on the coast here is pure folly. I'm a 7th generation Texan born in Corpus and now living at the eastern edge of the Hill Country. Our ancestors were much wiser about where they built than we are, while people now are willing to pay a premium to live on a river or near the ocean. It's kind of nuts. And I wondered for years about Camp Mystic and those cabins near the Guadalupe, an area I'm very familiar with.
