Martin Sandbu (FT) argues if Europe is to decouple from its relations with the USA, to avoid the continuing threats & bullying from the Tangerine Tyrant, then it needs to do three things:

1. pivot its trade away from the US (luckily Trump's tariffs are helping there);

2. redirect capital flows from US-based investments (perhaps more tricky?);

3. expand the EU members' independent military capabilities (will take time).

But as an agenda for the next decade it makes much sense!

TT man is out of control. The recent (yesterday?) WSJ report into the backstory of the Witkoff-Russia proposals is truly frightening. Nations with even a modicum of sanity need to distance from the US, fast.

The EU needs to create a credit card clearing system to give us non-US alternative. For us mere mortals, there is literally no choice atm.
