It was only a week ago that tech media reported on a significant exodus from X to Bluesky by Turkish citizens fleeing censorship on that platform:

techcartel.net/bluesky-surge-t…

If the above post is accurate, perhaps #Bluesky is not the digital refuge they were seeking.

In response to a cautionary post on this subject in another thread just received this response from @arda constituting verification of this matter.

micro.arda.pw/@arda/1143480854…

In the post it is demonstrated that the subject account is visible from non-Turkish IP addresses, but when accessed from Turkey is blocked with the below screenshotted message.

The post also references a Turkish media article: sonmuhur.com/blueskyda-ilk-san… and Reddit discussion: reddit.com/r/Turkey/comments/1…

If #bluesky acquiescences to the repressive turkish regimes demands to cancel and delete turkish citizens' accounts....I'm a gone in a heartbeat. I didn't leave #twitter to join another anti-free speech/authoritarian-enabling sycophantic organization. #turkey

It will need to be confirmed, but this really underscores the inherent advantage of truly decentralized protocols.

assuming it's true...

so that account could resurrect itself using #ActivityPub and then bridge and the owners/staff of #bluesky could explain that they had to follow the law and ask everyone to bridge so they can avoid this problem in the future, right?
