By now you may have heard WordPress blogs can attach to Mastodon. Yesterday WordPress announced that ALL accounts can enable an ActivityPub interface to the Fediverse.

Follow these fifty easy steps to create a WordPress blog and attach it the the Fediverse. Should take you about 30 minutes to one hour, and doesn’t cost anything.1. Go to wordpress.com in new window
2. Click: Get started
3. Click: Continue with Email
4. Enter email address
5. Click: Continue
6. Click: Choose my domain later
7. Click: Start with Free
8. Click: Continue with Free
9. Click: Skip to dashboard
10. Reduce zoom so you see everything
11. Click: Site Title
12. Click: Pages
13. Click: Homepage
14. Click: Site Title
15. Click: Skip (in Welcome to WordPress! dialog box)
16. Edit the title to: “My Very Own Blog”
17. Edit ‘Site Title’ in top left to: “My Blog”
18. Click: “Save”
19. Click: “Save” again
20. Click: “W” logo (top left)
21. Click; “<” (next to Design)
22. Click: Settings (General)
23. Click: Change (under Site icon)
24. Click: Upload media
25. Find and icon image and Click: Open
26. Click: Continue
27. Click: Done
28. Edit: Site tagline to “This is my very own blog site”
29. Click: Save settings
30. Click: My Home (left menu)
31. Click: Launch your site (under Next steps for your site)
32. Click: “X” (top left of dialog)
33. Click: Settings (left menu)
34. Click: Discussion
35. Click: Enter the fediverse (under Fediverse settings)
36. Click: Copy (next to the address under “Anyone in the fediverse (eg Mastodon)…” )
35. Now go to your Mastodon account in a different window… Click: # Explore
37. Paste the address you copied
38. Add a “@” to the front of the address (IMPORTANT)
39. Press: Enter
40. Click on: “My Blog”
41. Click: Follow
42. Now back to WordPress… Click: Posts
43. Click: Add new post
44. Replace title with: “My First Mastodon Post”
45. Replace text with: “This is the first post that will show up on Mastodon”
46. Click: Publish
47. Click: Publish (again)
48. Click: “X” (top left of dialog box)
49. Now back to Mastodon Click: Refresh icon
50. Yea! Now you can add more posts and edit your blog. The changes will be sent to Mastodon.Note: Be aware that followers will only see new blog posts published to the Fediverse.
