Wow. It sure doesn't seem like the Bluesky PBC CEO likes her current users very much. This is pretty incredible. Feel like we've seen this movie before.

Can only imagine that she needs money and is playing to an investor audience that wants Bluesky to pivot to more of a right wing friendly platform.

Enshittification is a natural process of corporate social media.

Monopoly means a Hotel on Broadway, means put it away, start new game.

Thus the reason they've been insanely quick to implement ID checks when various government bodies demand it.

Yup. Again, this is likely driven by money concerns. Investors do not want to invest in businesses that are exposed to unmanageable risk. Probably you are right that the two are related. They probably figure (rightly) that enforcement action is more likely if they are a liberal oasis.

to be fair I think it’s frustration. Which I’ve seen even founders of fedi projects get into public spats. I think the entire team is tired of being harassed. I’m not saying some of the criticism isn’t warranted, just speaking of where the approach may be stemming from. Even some of the soft spoken team members have been a bit more aggressive in their responses towards users
