But that is typically how Roman authorities described security breakdowns along the frontier. A more nuanced argument might suggest that drought conditions in southern Britain placed strains on military preparedness, and when simultaneous multiple security threats emerged, this was likely an additional factor on why it was difficult for Roman authorities to maintain order.
Still, the article presents an interesting approach to Roman security concerns that can provide some useful evidence in understanding the operations of the Roman frontier.
