I used termly.io/ to generate the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for Loops so I could ship the TestFlight beta ASAP.
There have been several concerns raised about them, and I want you to know that we will be replacing them with a better, more clearer set of rules and policies.
Please don't assume the worst, I'm trying my best but don't have a team to help me with stuff like this.
I'll make it right.

in reply to Daniel Supernault • • •thank you for the clarification!
This makes me think, it would be super useful to have a privacy respecting boilerplate ToS, that takes federation into account, that projects could default to as they are getting started. đ€

in reply to Daniel Supernault • • •Let me preface: I really am in awe of all your incredible work. Pixelfed is great, loops has potential (just not for me personally ^^).
But there are substantiated criticisms of decisions you made which could have been avoided if you had been part of a team.
Please understand: I'm worried for your personal well-being and the longevity of your projects.
Are there any plans to share those burdens? Kinda like @Gargron just did?
(ofc not exactly the same, your situations are different)

in reply to Henrik Schönemann • • •@lavaeolus Nobody is perfect, I don't dwell on my past actions, I learn from them and improve and move forward.
If there was some smoking gun of my misbehavior, other than he uses "phrases" its like really?
Don't you have something better to do? Have I ever showed any racism towards anyone?
Nope, I even tried to work with them, but they have been silent.
My actions speak for themselves. My toots are public.

in reply to Daniel Supernault • • •You don't get what I'm saying.
I haven't mentioned any "phrases" - one of the decisions I'm talking about is: "I used termly.io/ to generate the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for Loops so I could ship the TestFlight beta ASAP."
And:
"don't have a team to help me with stuff like this"
Please read what and how I wrote things, I'm not coming from a place of "assuming the worst" :)

in reply to Daniel Supernault • • •Appreciate this.
Several questions:
- What do you intend to do with the licenses you have already acquired?
- What changes to the ToS can we expect, even roughly?
- Is there any reason you didn't use the ToS from PixelFed to begin with?
- Did you not read the ToS you used, or did you not think it was legally binding? How did this situation get so off the rails?
Thanks

in reply to Phil • • •@phil We will invalidate all licenses of all content and our new terms will supercede them.
I also welcome our community to help draft these new terms of service so that other instances can use them too!
Would you mind being a part of this, and helping steward this change?

in reply to Daniel Supernault • • •so I guess the first Q would be, why bother with the TOS and privacy policy right now? I read through the TOS from Termly and tbh they owe you an apology if that wasn't your intent.
Second would be, what IS your expected use of ppls data, your intended privacy policy? In layppl terms. I'm sure ppl could help you draft one that was less Termly, better suited.
