Hello #fediverse #introduction
I'm Michael, professor in the institutes of #mathematics and #materials science and head of the @MatMat group at #EPFL.
I work on the #atomistic simulations of materials, mainly density-functional theory (DFT) methods, understanding #simulation errors and #uncertainties in predicted materials properties.
I use techniques from
#physics #computerscience #machinelearning and
develop related #julia packages such as the density-functional toolkit (#dftk).

A few suggestions to help improve your experience and outreach here:
- @FediTips has useful guidance
- @FediFollows has curated lists
- AltText on graphics and imbedded images is the norm, they are very appreciated by the large Blind and low vision community here. Many users will not boost posts without AltText. If you arenβt ready to write the descriptions yourself, #ALT4Me requests for someone else to reply with a description that can be added later.
- use and follow hashtags, but be aware that they wonβt be propagated to or seen on instances where they havenβt yet been used
- boosting is a great way to get content and hashtags distributed to a broader network of instances
