this is a truly excellent article "Cities across America have shown resilience and courage in the face of sudden abductions, unmarked vans, and masked agents. We do not have time to heave, cough, or weep β€” so we pull on our gas masks and walk forward into the mist. What is tear gas for? It is for inciting riots. How did people go out and get gas masks? They ordered them online, because they do not want to riot."

as someone who works hazmat, yearly fit tested, etc, those masks are excellent, but I found they can be far cheaper with the same high quality I wear in immediately lethal environments.

I recommend always carrying an extra carbon containing VOC cartridge as they are stealthy and can be used standalone for breathing. Also, 3D print models for a small covert breathing tube to connect with a small cartridge can both fit in a pocket for daily emergency use, such as dog farts. For $20, this is a cheap covert and compact setup, but without the eye protection that goggles can provide.
