Iβm getting borkage trying to run up #FreeBSD 15.0 Beta 4 and 5 with #pkgbase . There appears to be either a mismatch of packages or it just canβt find the repo. What are others experiencing?
if you're on arm64, the pkg.f.o mirror hasn't finished syncing yet so BETA5 isn't available.
there also seems to be a pkg(8) issue affecting some users that causes it to crash during the upgrade, this is fixed in pkg 2.4 but there isn't a binary package for that yet.
@lw Itβs amd64. Hmm your observations fit with the issues Iβve seen. Iβll try again tomorrow for a Beta 5 install. Pkg will come through normally before the next beta.
amd64 should be working fine. what problem are you running into specifically?
i am basically the only person working on pkgbase right now, so i would really like to know the problem, so i can fix it (or at least explain what's going on, if it's a known issue)
@lw Beta 5 installed and working as intended. Happy as I really didnβt want this device to be following the FreeBSD-update workflow. Thanks for the input. Any need for additional public mirrors?

Segfault-free with 2.4.2_1:

I've got some ideas for a build leaving a lot of the traditional base out and swapping things with pkgs built from ports. #FreeBSD #pkgbase

in reply to Jason Tubnor π¦πΊ • • •FYI just upgraded beta5 amd64 successfully.
Did upgrade -r FreeBSD-base first, rebooted then ran upgrade -r FreeBSD-ports.
Everything seems to be working.

in reply to oxy • • •@oxyhyxo which version of pkg?
When I last tested, the convention of FreeBSD-base first was prone to removal of non-base packages.
IIRC the workaround involved not attempting to be repo-specific.

@Tubsta
Removals of non-base packages for installations, or upgrades, that specify the FreeBSD-base repository alone
