As a content creator, I'm angry. Not sure where to direct that anger.

I wish people gave a shit about the stuff I put my time, heart and soul into.

But if i just do a simple talking head video w/ minimal editing & a slightly negative or clickbaity title, that gets the hits!

Do you know how difficult it is to constantly dish out positive, upbeat content when your analytics CONSTANTLY tell you the majority of people want the exact opposite?

stay cool and Keep on truckin'. I really like the friendly toon in your video's. Even if the content not always is my cup of tea. ♥️👍☕

It is true. However should you care!? I create a lot of content and projects since 2005 or so. I never ever cared about views or engagement and stuff like that. I focused on what I loved doing. And so far so great. If one loves what they do, then he/she should not care if what they create is popular or not, especially in a society in which what is popular is synonymous with dumb/shocking/retarded.

The problem is this trade-based society we live in, where you trade this for that. And today people trade views/clicks for money or stuff. And so, we wrongly associate those numbers (views/likes/clicks/comments) with value. As if a video that has 5 million views is more valuable than one with 10 views. In truth it is not. It is only more valuable in terms of trades - more views = move people watching those youtube ads, and then you can transform those into money to then buy you a beer or whatever.

So yah, distorted values because of this trade-based nonsense society we live in. I never traded my content (books, videos, websites, etc.) so I was never influenced by such things.

I understand where you're both coming from. I haven't been creating content for as long as both of you but the lack of views and engagement does get to me a lot of times. I used to always feel pressured to join mainstream social media (Zuck's platform and the blue bird) and always post something every single day. Now I only post when I feel like it and have since closed my other social media accounts. As for my blog, I'm rebuilding it from zero.

I first started blogging 3 years ago on the STEEM blockchain before joining the mainstream with a Wordpress website but am now aiming to convert it into a static site because I'm no longer obsessed with analytics, engagement, ad revenue, etc.
