thanks for taking the time to write this. We have had an unpleasant experience with one of these alternatives which is open core and was quite aggressive towards us as a small hoster. They are promoting themselves as open source (we guess to get a free ride in contributions from devs). Having "the cake and eating all of it too" approach.
