@Reinald What I do is follow my Pixelfed account from Mastodon and then boost it.
The general problem I'm finding at the moment is that most of the new people don't understand the importance of hashtags, so their stuff is hard to find even on Pixelfed
@Jan Strnad @Fell ๐ #FOSDEM there is the ability to sign in with your mastodon account, though I'm not sure if it creates an additional account based on that or they work together... Might be worth experimenting
but to paste some name i need to know it, i cannot access the pixelfed explore page, because they decides to only show trending posts and if I check the Hashtags #FirstPost i see like 5 Posts, because the servers are not connected. It's really frustrating.
By the way, thanks to @lane_ass_jenna or rather her new Pixelfed @lane_jenna for inspiring me to make this post. I never thought it would blow up this much. ๐
I tried some pixelfed this week (android app); it's the thing it wants to be, buuuuut I don't think I would recommend it as the best way to interact with broader fedi. Number one, the big one, is that it only displays posts *with a picture*, so pixelfed followers can only see that activity. Replies show up fine. Number two, the lesser, is that the onboarding process is neither harder nor simpler than Mastodon. It's ok though, and it might diversify fedi a lil
Thank you ! On my side, pixelfeld is still not functioning well. (In French, we say: "รงa rame toujours" !). But I will wait a bit more. Maybe there are too many people registering at the same time !
@timixretroplays Yeah, but my understanding is that I canโt use, for example, this account Iโm using to write a Mastodon post to also post on Pixelfed. Iโd need to create a separate account on a Pixelfed server to do that, since accounts are a per-server thing.
@gregly @timixretroplays Anything you post on Mastodon can also be seen by Pixelfed users, provided the post contains an image, as Pixelfed is primarily for images. This means that if you ever posted an image on Mastodon, you have already posted on Pixelfed as well.
@worik Try typing their name in the search bar. If that doesn't work, try accessing their profile and then copy the Pixelfed profile URL into the Mastodon search bar. The connection will then be established.
@feacrow Try typing their name in the search bar. If that doesn't work, try accessing their profile in a browser and then copy the URL into the Mastodon search bar.

in reply to Fell • • •Fediverse accounts can follow bridge protocol double opt in accounts to follow BlueSky accounts also, without being on BlueSky! ๐ฅ
You can also follow Twitter users also but, why bother ? ^_^

But I agree that discoverability on the Fediverse isn't great. The Mastodon folks founded the #Fediscovery project to help with this.

Example (on the #MakerTube instanceof PeerTube) : @sanity_check_gaming

But thatโs a bigger technical issue to tackleโฆ
