GR11 thru-hike, Day 12-13-

I made it to the first set of high mountains going east to west across the Pyrenees! Here I walked from Setcases to Queralbs, passing by the Ulldeter Refuge, Pic de Tirapits, and Nuria (all in Spain).

Wow lots of nice & beautiful places. And you were inside a cloud! :ablobcatrave:

Day 11 on the trail-

Here I walked from Mollo to Setcases, struggling up the hills and battling with my blisters and busy mind 😁
I didn't expect to see a horse ringing a bell, haha 😄

GR11 Thru-Hike
Day 9-10: Women's Problems-

Here I walked from the Bassegoda Refuge to a river close to Mollo. It was very hot and I experienced all kinds of pain!
Wow, lots of different terrains and nice bridges. Also the tiny little frogs 🐸

Day 7-8:

Here I walked from Ermita de Santa Eugenia to Sant Miquel de Fontfreda, then on to the Bassegoda Refuge, which is a massive free shelter.

Laptop donation campaign for TROM ❤

Laptop Donation Campaign -

By Tio:

This is a donation campaign to help me, Tio, buy a new laptop that will allow me to become more mobile while having all I need to work on TROM and its baby projects. Please see the donation campaign for a detailed explanation and help if you can.

Basically I need to take what is in this photo (except those galaxies):

With all of the shoeboxes full of HDDs and cables:

And put it into this:

Thank you very much if you can help out! 😀

Day 5 & 6 on the GR11:

I had a nice rest day at Refuge Forn de Calç (a bit early for a rest day- I know, but it was 33 degrees outside!). On day 6 I walked to La Jonquera (which was very disappointing) and on to some random shelter in the forest.
There were 🐗 🐮 🦎 🐍
haha yes 😁

Rokosun reshared this.

On my third night on the GR11, I had another terrifying encounter with wild boars. Then I spent my fourth day on the trail struggling with heat and water problems.

Here I walked from the Sant Quirze de Colera Monastery to the Forn de Calç refuge (which is a free shelter for hikers and bikers).
The door opens and the video ends, excited for the next one 😀

BTW, boars sound way scarier than I thought, could totally use that in a horror movie!
haha yes they are really scary!! 😁

Day 2 & 3 on the GR11 thru-hike (ultraheavy style). Here I went from Port de la Selva to the Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery to Sant Quirze de Colera.
I spent my first night alone on this trail- and was terrified of the wild animals that came by my tent. The next day I was attacked by dogs and almost collapsed from heat exhaustion 😁
Big Boars, Brave Sasha 😀)
This series is getting very interesting really quickly!

Boar: *makes scary noises*

Sasha: *takes out her katana, AKA pointless knife* 🤣

I knew that pointless knife will come back, like a Chekhov's gun in a movie 😄

Day 1 & 2 of my big hike from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic across the Pyrenees Mountains-

Thanks @Tio for joining me for the first 20 km of the trail! And thanks for taking some stuff out of my ultraheavy backpack! 😁

aand also thank you for setting up this great PeerTube instance 😀 It turns out that uploading videos to PeerTube is much faster than uploading them to YouTube- and much less confusing! 😁
Not to mention no ads, no data collection, no google evil, and all that 😁

I remember @tio talking about how tired he got just from those few days he was on the hike with you, I have no idea how you managed to go the entire way through with that ultra heavy backpack, I hope the antigravity is working so your back wouldn't hurt.

BTW, were you also writing your book during the hike?
haha actually I have no idea either 😁 it was very difficult 😀
I already had my book written out but I had it on my book reader and went through it while I was in the mountains, noting some changes that I wanted to make

I'm starting a new video series about hiking the GR11 (an 840-km thru-hike across the Pyrenees) on a very tight budget.
Here is the first video:
It's me packing my Ultraheavy backpack 😁

You can find my full thru-hike gear list here:
Oh wow, amazing start of the series, Sasha! Great equipment you have 😎 Can't wait to see how the "hammock plot" turns out.. 😆
thank you 😀 haha oh the hammock plot 😆🤣

I made a little video with some big fish 😀

Filmed at the Medes Islands, Spain. This marine reserve has been protected since 1983, allowing biodiversity to be restored in this little piece of the Mediterranean Sea.

I was interviewed for a mini-documentary + article about Couchsurfing. You can see it here:

It’s a nice video with a positive message in the end. The only thing it’s missing, I’d say, is a mention of some alternative couchsurfing platforms like and – those that haven’t morphed into an evil profit-driven company :D

I explained the whole Couchsurfing story in more detail here-
That’s why I’m in this mini-doc :)

Rokosun reshared this.

I've never heard of couchsurfing before, this looks very interesting. See, now I'm more excited for your book, haha 😀
haha :) It was a really nice project for a few years, and a really great idea that allowed people to connect all over the world. Hopefully it will still live on through different projects in a more decentralized way :)

Thank you to Merwin for a $4 donation :)
My website got a bunch of attention these days because the Dodo channel published a video about my octopus "friends" and it seems to have gone viral. Unfortunately they only posted it on Facebook but here it is-
They titled it as "Octopus Leads Her Human Best Friend To Her Den" haha :D It was true tho :)

And here is the video that Dima made about the same octopuses-

Big thank you to John Moua for a $30 donation with the message “We support you girl. keep up with your journey and especially your book.” - That is super nice of you! :)

I’m becoming more and more confident that I’d like to self-publish my book without even trying to send it to any agents or publishing companies. That’s mostly because I think I’ll blow my head off if I have to edit it anymore (and I would have to edit it a lot more if a publishing company accepted it). I’d also like to have control over it- no editing out controversial subjects, no changing the title, no .99 prices, and nobody telling me that I can’t give it away for free.

Let’s see. For now I am still editing and editing...

I'm done with the 5th draft of parts 1 and 2 now. That's about 1/3 of the way there! (The 5th draft will have to be the final one :D )

A massive thank you to Jocelyn for a €264 donation. That is extremely kind of you and helps a ton!
And also a massive thank you to Uwe and Benjamin, who still support me on Patreon. I haven’t made much new content for a while because I am still focusing on my book and this has been a huge challenge for me. I made an update about my struggle here a few days ago-

Basically, I’m still working on the 5th draft, which (I know I’ve said this before) I hope will be the last and final one :)

For now, Tio and I have enough money to survive for another 4 months or so thanks to a number of very kind people who help us out. Thank you so much to you all.

I made a lot of progress polishing up my book these days. Got through almost the entire huge list of grammar questions/problems that I had (-and that was a huuge pain). Now I have a few more edits to do before I go through it all again - hopefully the last time (though I seem to say that every time :D).

@Dima made a cool video about my octopus experience :D -

Here I explain the story of how I met and started interacting with these octopuses :)
See my blog for more details:

These days the water temperature is about 14-15 degrees, but I'm still going in there to interact with these octopuses :D Yesterday I found a very friendly one who chased me around the bay. I'll see if I can film him :)

Big thanks to Dima for the video :)
Great video, awesome story! :)

Yesterday I got to preview the first part of TROM II documentary and I must say that it’s really really awesome :) I may be biased (since I’m in it :)) but sometimes it gave me the chills. And it also reminds me a bit of Adam Curtis’ documentaries. Overall I think @Tio did a fantastic job so far, and I can’t wait to see what will come next!
You are too nice :)
Oh I cant wait to watch it :D

Rokosun reshared this.

So I finished draft 4 of the book (a few weeks ago), then I had a couple of people read through it and give me some feedback. Now I want to edit a few more parts, do some fact checking, and find answers to all of my grammar questions. I have a nine-page document full of only bullet points of grammar problems/uncertainties. I worked on this list for a little while, then got overwhelmed and started gorging on ice cream to make myself feel better :D But of course, unless I want to change the name of my blog to Small World Big Sasha, eating ice cream is not a good solution to my problems! So I decided to take it easy, just do five or so grammar points per day, and get this done little by little. Be like the squirrel- :D

After that, I want to go through the book one more time, make a reference page, and still fix the conclusion. I never thought it would take me this long to finish this damn book but it is what it is. Just a little bit more to go..

Big thanks to @Future is FOSS@Xantulon and @Alexio who helped with the release of TROMjaro XFCE! They test it, help us create custom scripts, and more. All about the release here

I added some Pyrenees photos to my photo page:
It seemed a bit out of date since I had nothing there since 2019. Now 2021 is there :)

Love those Pyrenees mountain lakes :)

I'm taking off on my big hike today! I'll be mostly offline for the next 2-3 months.

Also, I made a longer update on my old GoFundMe campaign-
Sorry that I made that campaign almost two years ago and I still haven't published my book! I have been working on it like crazy over the past two years though and I'm super relieved that I finally finished it. I will publish it when I get back from the hike (after I go over it just one last time 😁)

Let's see how far I can get on this hike before I collapse 😀
