Hi @johnonolan, Ghost is limiting me to 191 characters for alt text. Why such a low character limit? It makes it very hard to describe an image in any detail, which is the whole point of alt text. Can I suggest either lifting or just getting rid of this limitation? At least for the version you make available to other people hosting instances.

Does anyone else have this issue with their Ghost 6.9.0 blog?

I can write posts, I can follow other people, but the explore tab is completely empty and even when I follow other accounts, I cannot read their messages in the "Reader" section.

No matter if I try to use "top" or any other topic. I always get a "404". ActivityPub initialization seems to be fine though.

What am I missing? (yes, the domain name is redacted)

Does anyone know of any managed service providers for #Ghost in Australia? Ideally, ones that support the platform?

I've heard about a new website redevelopment at work sometime next year.

A website using Ghost would be a good way to get a Fediverse and BlueSky presence.

We don't have the resources to do it in-house, but a managed service provider in Australia would tick a lot of boxes.

Anyone have any recommendations?

This is what I referred to when I said that "I got a big blue whale off my back" a few days ago. I don't have to worry about #Docker anymore, as I put my blog in the expert hands of Jannis at Magic Pages. My big lesson from this year has been: self-hosting is empowering and a lot of fun... but sometimes it makes more sense to turn to experts and pay them to manage your essential stuff. Like in this case.

And I will be saving money too (it's a lot cheaper than paying for a basic plan at Mailgun + my VPS). I'm just so relieved. And Ghost v6 is incredible. I will write more about this soon...

It's one of a number of areas where Ghost has oversold itself. Talking up third-party subscription features that are folded into their hosted service, in ways that create a false impression of what a self-hosted instance can do. Email subscriptions is another example.

My blog is self-hosted using #Ghost .

The latest version of Ghost includes Fediverse integration out of the box.

So the blogs you post on Ghost appear on the Fediverse, and you can post "notes" which are equivalent to a regular Mastodon post.

There's also BlueSky integration through Bridgy that you can turn on in the preferences menu.
