VPS provider who ignores DMCA notices

Currently I'm using a VPS on Hertzer hosted in Singapore. I might try to torrent movies and games or maybe download videos in bulk using yt-dlp from youtube or maybe even porn.
I want to know if its a good idea or should I use a paid vpn inside my VPS. If there is a better alternative like another VPS provider who ignores DMCA notices and stuff, do suggest. I also sync some folders using syncthing. So its kind of a mixed use. I don't know much about networking and stuff, so hopefully nothing too complicated. Thanks in advance.

Many seedbox providers also offer dedicated servers or seedboxes with root access (or the ability to deploy containers or something similar), that's probably the closest you're gonna get.

Critique This! A Simple Qt Dock Widget which enables the whole widget to be 'folded' to use less screen space

I'm working on a project that needs lots of toolbars on screen at once, even though not all of them will be used at the same time. So, I'm modelling this 'foldable' dock widget after what I remember Photoshop panels used to be like.

It's a work in progress, but would like to hear constructive suggestions.

How do you actually find fediverse bloggers

I'm starting to get in to self hosting and am looking at self-hosted blog solutions. It looks like WriteFreely is the main fediverse blog platform, with Plume as second though I don't see it used much.

But that got me thinking that it'd be good to follow federated blogs and have some long form reading that I follow, like we did back when RSS was the main way of doing things.

But how do I actually find bloggers? It looks like WriteFreely can federate with Mastodon, but it doesn't look like there's a federated blogging platform like lemmy or mastodon. Is this correct? Where I can I go (other than Medium) to find blogs and bloggers in the fediverse?

WordPress is integrated with the Fediverse through the ActivityPub plugin.

Fediverse reshared this.

in reply to RagingHungryPanda

read.write.as shows posts from users on that platform. maybe a good place to start looking. at any rate, it's pretty ad-hoc and manual because, while it federates, you're not going to see activity other than posting.

Orban, Le Pen hail Trump at far-right 'Patriots' summit in Madrid

Summary

Far-right leaders, including Viktor Orbán and Marine Le Pen, gathered in Madrid for the first summit of the "Patriots for Europe" bloc, praising Donald Trump’s return.

Hosted by Spain’s far-right Vox party, the event focused on anti-immigration rhetoric and opposition to left-wing policies.

Spain’s ruling party condemned the gathering, calling it a "coven of ultras."

Despite the bloc’s ambitions, major nationalist parties from Italy, Germany, and Poland have refused to join, highlighting divisions within Europe’s far-right movement.

"Patriots" that want to sell out their countries to a hostile imperialistic power.

It's kind of funny to call yourself a patriot and then go to a convention with people from other countries, who also call themselves patriots, and then proceed to pat each other on the back about how good other countries are doing.
in reply to NoForwardslashS

They call themselves patriots, but they are nationalists, which is even crazier as what drives them is hate to other countries.... And for some reason love for Russia (which is why at least Polish nationalist representation has some problem with)

Not sure I understand the boycott but still watch crowd. Sure, not watching makes viewership go down a tick, but the Superbowl is so cultural, every hallway "did you see the game" helps push those viewership numbers right back up
in reply to LemmyFeed

But would you still watch anyways? It seems silly to me to watch a game you're boycotting then just go around pretending you didn't. Who did you watch for? Who are you actually lying to?
in reply to RvTV95XBeo

No I wouldn't and didn't watch. I couldn't care less about sports.
in reply to LemmyFeed

Wait, you didn't see that ludicrous display last night?

How to Hoard

in reply to dipper_retreat

Alternative option: Truenas Scale. Supermicro motherboard. AMD Epyc (used) for lots of PCIE lanes. LSI 9300 and AEC 82885 expander. 16TB+ drives. Rack mount, with SAS back planea. RaidZ2 minimum. Special vdev, NVMe drives and dedicated apps and VM storage, don't be afraid of a converged solution.

And fans. Lots of fans.

in reply to dipper_retreat

This is next level hoarding and reading the response suggestions is still very useful.

The Department of Education Told Employees to End Support for Transgender Students

in reply to Lena

As a public school teacher, I can assure these fascist pigs that I will continue to support and uplift all my students, including trans kids and any kids in the LGBTQI+ spectrum.

How the "Queers For Palestine" feeling about their "Genocide Joe" protest vote now? Good? Bad?
in reply to shoulderoforion

Oh fuck off. That genocide is coming here sooner or later and the only way to stop it is to oppose genocide against all people, not just when politically convenient.

Go be mad at the useless democrats who are controlled opposition instead of voters with a conscience, something you lack.

The democrats could of stopped arming Israel and didn’t. They could be stopping trumps picks right now but are instead voting them in.

THE DEMOCRATS ARE NOT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN YOUR FRIEND. THEY ARE CONTROLLED OPPOSITION. WAKE THE FUCK UP.

in reply to inv3r5ion

Agreed. Remember that corporate Democrats, on the heels of their loss, were grappling with the idea they should have tried to sell out trans people to try to get more republican votes? I remember.

They made a great deal of money though acting like they believed Trump winning was going to be the end of Democracy. I agree he will be, but their actions after the election show me they don't believe it, or they don't care because they see their own opportunity there. The fact that they aren't even trying to gum the works for his cabinet shows how on board they are.

If you were in a position of power watching these events unfold would you be cool helping rubber stamp to enable them? I sure a fuck couldn't. But our supposed "last bastion of democracy" collectively doesn't seem to have an issue. Don't want to rock the boat on the road to our new christofascist state huh?

in reply to deadtom

Exactly what you’re saying. If I was in their shoes I’d be doing everything in my power to block them. What the fuck are they doing?????

They don’t care about democracy. It’s all theatre to them. If they cared they would have made sure to run a candidate that wasn’t going to lose to a fascist. You know, a candidate that had real grassroots support. Oh I don’t know who could that be, Bernie sanders? Back in 2016???? The democrats would rather lose to fascists than upset their donors and professional managerial class voter base.

in reply to shoulderoforion

Feeling just as usual. One genocidal state official or another, genocide is always a red line.
in reply to ThePowerOfGeek

They're not the same. I'm just saying that genocide is a red line for many people and that shouldn't be so hard to get into your damn heads. Not everyone can look the other way when a genocide is happening and "vote strategically".
in reply to febra

No genocide wasn't on the ballot. Less genocide was.

You helped make this happen.
