It's silly to act like individual values are some sacred, unassailable thing gifted to everyone's soul by the heavens, rather than something that came from a combination of inborn human traits and memories*, i.e. they are something that is contingent, changing, and in no way above being questioned.
It's also silly to act like it makes sense to just have a blanket acceptance of something if it's an "individual value" even though, when we look at the world, individual values can sometimes be extremely fucked up and we shouldn't allow people who would enact those values to abuse with impunity.
*"memories" is simplistic, but I don't think it is catastrophically so.

Itโs self-evident why not: My sources run counter to the imperial coreโs narrative. Specifically the United States governmentโs narrative. The US tried to foment division in China by funding and organizing terrorist cells in Xinjiang, and once those efforts failed, it concocted and promoted this genocide narrative. Antony Blinken is still pushing this slop, while aiding and abetting an actual genocide in Palestine.
The blueprint of regime change operations
We see here for example the evolution of public opinion in regards to China. In 2019, the โUyghur genocideโ was broken by the media (Buzzfeed, of all outlets). In this story, we saw the machine I described up until now move in real time. Suddenly, newspapers, TV, websites were all flooded with stories about the โgenocideโ, all day, every day. People whom weโd never heard of before were brought in as experts โ Adrian Zenz, to name just one; a man who does not even speak a word of Chinese.Organizations were suddenly becoming very active and important. The World Uyghur Congress, a very serious-sounding NGO, is actually an NED Front operating out of Germany [โฆ]. From their official website, they declare themselves to be the sole legitimate representative of all Uyghurs โ presumably not having asked Uyghurs in Xinjiang what they thought about that.
The WUC also has ties to the Grey Wolves, a fascist paramilitary group in Turkey, through the father of their founder, Isa Yusuf Alptekin.
Documents came out from NGOs to further legitimize the media reporting. This is how a report from the very professional-sounding China Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) came to exist. They claimed โup to 1.3 millionโ Uyghurs were imprisoned in camps. What they didnโt say was how they got this number: they interviewed a total of 10 people from rural Xinjiang and asked them to estimate how many people might have been taken away. They then extrapolated the guesstimates they got and arrived at the 1.3 million figure.
Sanctions were enacted against China โ Xinjiang cotton for example had trouble finding buyers after Western companies were pressured into boycotting it. Instead of helping fight against the purported genocide, this act actually made life more difficult for the people of Xinjiang who depend on this trade for their livelihood (as we all do depend on our skills to make a livelihood).
Any attempt China made to defend itself was met with more suspicion. They invited a UN delegation which was blocked by the US. The delegation eventually made it there, but three years later. The Arab League also visited Xinjiang and actually commended China on their policies โ aimed at reducing terrorism through education and social integration, not through bombing like we tend to do in the West.
I guess my main issue with your argument is that Iโm not convinced of the reliability of the sources youโve cited regarding the situation in Xinjiang.

Sure, there are no sacred cows.
It runs counter to the genocideโโculturalโ or otherwiseโnarrative, and counter to the โHan supremacyโ narrative. The Uyghur people and other minority groups were excepted from Chinaโs One-Child policy, and as a result the Uyghur population in Xinjiang has grown in proportion to the Han population. The Uyghur languages and religious* practices are protected and financially supported, not suppressed. People can go to Xinjiang and see for themselves. They can see & hear the languages in use and visit the mosques.
*The CPC is officially atheist, but their general policy on religion is tolerance, and an expectation that religions will eventually wither away on their own.

Fusion reactors are incredibly complicated.... This is a research reactor, with the goal of figuring out how to create sustainable fusion for real world uses by 2050.
This is not a performative action for a determinative outcome, this is aspirational and has no guarantee of achieving its goals, which is good. This type of research and science needs to be funded, even when it may fail.
Maybe this will spurn competition between powers to accelerate their own fusion reactor research, and create a virtuous cycle that accelerates this technology becoming a major source of green energy in the near, or medium-term, future.

I disagree on the private sector aspect of this, but I agree on the democracy part. Although, I don't really view America as true democracy at this moment in history, but that's besides the point here.
Fusion technology is at a point in its life cycle where it needs to be a public sector project. There is no path to profitability in the near-term, that would justify private sector involvement, except as a means to extract profit from the very expensive research process of even making this technology feasible.
Not that I'm against the private sector within the nuclear power industry. I'm very excited to see what they can do with . I'm just extremely skeptical of most private-public partnerships, especially in cases like this.

The PRC doesn't have an already-built-up car-focused infrastructure like the US does for example, so they get to do it right from scratch. It becomes very difficult to get rid of that once it's built, so its best to do it right from the start.
They're trying to account for current and future needs for city-to-city travel.

This is completely false. If you're uninsured, a visit is less than ~5 USD per doctors visit, and about ~20 USD for a specialist visit.. If you're insured, as 95% of the population in China is, then visits are free. It also has a very low cost per capita, since public health is socialized, not privatized.
Primary school is completely free, and college has tuition fees just like any other country.

As far as the motivation for these large projects, its noteworthy that the most common profession in the NPC, the highest governing body in the PRC, is civil engineers.
I've seen a few shorter documentaries about how these massive projects are carried out, and it's fascinating.

Yes, this is a map of what was completed in 2018. China isn't the US, they don't give billions of dollars of public funds to grifters like Elon Musk, they actually build things.
As an example, China used more concrete for building projects from the years 2011-2013, than the US used in the entire 20th century.
China has built entire ghost cities, bridges, subways and malls using Tofu Dreg construction. So yes, that is technically correct. China does indeed "build things."
The point of critical infrastructure is that it's supposed to endure, not have to be torn down again in a couple of years because it's unsafe to occupy or use.

Western countries look at China building a city where no people are, and project waste, when in reality its just the PRC properly planning and building cities, anticipating housing and infrastructure, before they need them.
Meanwhile the US doesn't do anything beforehand and cities become a sprawling suburb, car-centered wasteland. They let private capital seeking short-term profits build their cities, and turn the country into a wal-mart parking lot.
A huge W for public transport. I assume the PRC already owning the land is significantly decreasing bureaucratic cost / time, allowing for such fast advances.
In sharp contrast the US (and some European countries) keep running after tech bro "innovations" like the hyperloop rather than sticking to actually working systems. Most of them will never see a real purpose because they were never realisable in the first place or will be slimmed down to a point where conventional public transport would have been the better option. And tbh, most of them are really just bait to keep those countries in a state of "looking for alternatives" whilst their current infrastructure is rotting away. And with especially the US being a nation centered around individual transport the vision for public transport is imo clearly lacking.
Europe in general isn't hit by that as much, seeing the benefits of current public transport solutions (at least nowadays... the 90' and 00' were different thanks to neoliberalism and making short term profits instead of doing long term investments), but it is hindered by the clusterfuck of nations / different railway standards. The EU is trying to manage some of it (with ETCS / ERTMS) as well as the new coupling standard (DAC) and track gauges slowly but steadily going towards 1435mm but there are still a lot of things to do such as a transition towards a standard current or even more important: unified train registration (atm a train/carriage needs to be registered for each country separately which leads to unnecessary train switches at border crossings). For example Italy requires carriages to have a fire extinguishing system whilst some other EU countries don't or some mountainous countries require specific braking tests. Having unified safety standards would make things a lot easier.
But at the upside at least some European railway companies do have a vision. For example, the รBB (Austrian federal railways) plans to have high speed rail connecting the main cities as well as European alpine corridors like the Brenner, Koralm and Semmering, regional trains for distances covering abt 200km and are reachable in abt 2 to 3 hours and (sub-) urban rail for metropolitan areas. In bigger cities, they want to provide bike sharing at the stations whilst they want to make car sharing available in rural areas to help cover the last few kilometres through the mountains/woods/fields, where busses only go on a daily basis if you are lucky and the bus driver doesn't skip your stop and take a shortcut because they believe nobody will be waiting there anyways and they might reach said vision in the next upcoming years and likely less than a decade.
So TL;DR the PRC is profiting off of their property law, their ability to centralize standards and them going the (at the moment) optimum way instead of hoping for innovation from tech bros with fancy power point presentations and zero knowledge of physics, Europe is doing alright but is a bit of a decentralised mess and the US is getting a bit distracted by "innovations" and their mantra of individual transport.
(My experience in the area mainly comes from working at a state-owned railway company and being interested in the matter in general. If there is anything to add or if I have gotten something wrong, feel free to comment.) \^-\^
It'd be hard to quantify, but I'm sure some statistics person could compare transportation methods, that includes speed, distance, energy usage, population, capacity, and probably a few more, per capita.
You could isolate it to a country's top X biggest cities, and how traveling between them compares in all those metrics.
It's funny when the western supremacists themselves try to claim that supporting communist countries is a uniquely western phenomenon, when its the opposite, it's the US and its vassals demonizing Cuba, China, and the USSR.

Mostly. Majority of people on this site is more or less the same as reddit, westerners. A lot of them privileged, sheltered westerners. For them, especially the Americans, the war is not real. Their grandfathers weren't dying in nazi death camps, their fathers weren't dying from drugs or alcoholism or poverty during economical transformation. For them it's a show to watch on TV, and since we here are telling them something entirely different than the narration they got used to in last two years, they get cognitive dissonance and lash at what cause it the most. Even including the sources they were taking as a gospel before.
And some are worse, those that are more or less aware, that it was their grandfathers who gained their golden age when ours were dying in camps, and their fathers gained their end of history when ours got pummeled by transformation.

It's worse than that. Israel is absolutely ineligible for aid under the Leahy Law. Biden, Blinken, and Sullivan have actively ignored any and all evidence of war crimes. Even when it was our own intelligence and state department agencies generating the evidence. He doesn't need to veto any of it. He could literally just cite the law and freeze the aid. Then it stays there ready for Israel to show it can operate without war crimes.
They're literally ignoring our own laws to support this genocide.

I too want Univeraal Healthcare to be a thing in the U.S. That being said one thing that I think people don't fully understand about this is that we are sending them Military Equipment that we already spent money on. We aren't just sending them that in cash.
We should definitely have a conversation around how much we spend on the MilItaly Indusrial Complex in America and the better ways we could spend that money to help our own citizens.

This full packed release comes with three new staging protocols:
- system bell - allowing e.g. terminal emulators to hand off system bell alerts to the compositor for among other things accessibility purposes
- fifo - for implementing first in first out surface content update behavior
- commit timing - for adding time constraints to surface content update
Other than this, the presentation timing protocol protocol got a version minor bump describing how to deal with variable refresh rate.
Other protocols saw the regular clarifications and bug fixes, and some deprecated events is now properly indicated as such in the XML. Please see individual commits for details.

However session saving is very important for any work, especially office tasks. Itโs becoming critical now when all major DEs make Wayland the default.
If apps don't want to save their state when they close there isn't much a window manager can do about that. The only part the window manager would be involved in is with positioning its window and that is hardly something very critical to the functionality of an app.

FIFA follows the money and the reason is simple: they have to compete with the insane privatized corporate climate that is association football today. Nobody is playing for the fame and recognition anymore, it's all about publicity, market value and prize money, and those require funds.
Saudi-Arabia benefits off of that by being able to sportswash their unjust regime, FIFA benefits by being able to hold an event. Qatar was the same deal, nobody gives a crap about football there as one could easily see.

Giving Saudi Arabia the 2034 World Cup has been a longtime coming. The 2030 World Cup was split across South America, Africa and Europe, yes really, under the banner of it being the โcentennial cupโ. Of course they could have held it all in South America, Uruguay being the original hosts.
In World Cup rules once a continent has hosted the World Cup they canโt hold it again for a certain period. So FIFA decided to hold it in three continents at the same time, thus reducing the available opportunities for 2034 and pretty much guaranteeing Saudi for 2034

Zelenskiy has been meeting allies in Europe this week to present a "victory plan" to end the war while also pressing to use long-range weapons that can strike deeper into Russian territory.The details of his plan have not been divulged publicly. A U.S. official has previously described it as a repackaged request for more weapons and a lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range missiles.
