If Trump wins, he'll be even less isolated AND he'll get to keep Ukraine to boot.
in reply to Jolly Platypus

I mean Russia is going to win in Ukraine regardless which kleptocrat gets in power in US.
in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

Wrong. Russia already lost. It's just a matter of how many more people have to die.

Not only have they failed to keep NATO from expanding onto their borders, but they are now China's bitch.

Goodbye tripolar world where Russia has a say.

Goodbye any fear Europe had of Russia. They can't defeat Poland much less all of NATO.

Putin failed spectacularly and the only ones who won't admit it are the Kremlin or Republicans.

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

In the fantasy world where Putler’s goal was European Lebensraum, it is true that Russia will lose. The problem is that, despite almost two years of Western propaganda to the contrary, that never was Russia’s goal.

I do have to say that simply making up goals for Russia turned out to be a very effective propaganda strategy.
in reply to Jolly Platypus

Expansion of NATO to Ukraine, specifically, was the red line. That is not happening any time soon.

Russia having closer ties to China is the US' nightmare and is a good thing for Russia. I assume yiur "removed" reference is either misogynistic or homophobic language. Nice look.

It seems you haven’t noticed yet that it is the Global North that’s increasingly isolating itself from the rest of the world. And given that the Global North has largely de-industrialized, it’s going to find itself in a pickle. And Russia is major player in the global majority.

They can’t defeat Poland much less all of NATO.

To everyone not buying the imperial core’s cartoonish propaganda, this is a non sequitur, because those aren’t things Russia intended or intends to do.

in reply to Jolly Platypus

It's true, Russia lost its entire citizenry other than Putin to the war, now he's just operating by means of North Korean hand servants. They lost about 200% of their population because, after the Russian conscript dies, the Ghost of Kiev hunted down their ghost and killed that too.

I think you'll find the war is in Ukraine, not Poland. Easy mistake to make for an American.

in reply to multitotal

Understandable, this can be problem even for some Poles, like the official spokeperson of previous government Foreign ministry, Paweł Jasina, who publicly said "We are the servants of the Ukrainian Nation".
in reply to multitotal

Defense minister Błaszczak? though i wouldn't be surprised in the least if there was more such incidents. The explanations were very funny that the banderist flag was in "other part of the monument" so it don't count, and btw that was like meter from him lol no chance he didn't saw it.

I know reading comprehension isn't everyone's strong suit, especially if English is a second language, so I'll try to clarify.

The world used to fear Russia.
NATO was created to counter Russia.
Now, Russia is so incompetent they couldn't even defeat just one country in NATO, Poland, much less the entire alliance.
Therefore, the NATO countries have nothing to fear from Russia should Russia decide to take the war from Ukraine to NATO.
This implies Russia is a paper tiger, was bluffing, and is far less powerful than anyone feared.

Hope that helps!

the gathering of BRICS and other countries this week spotlights a growing convergence of nations who hope to see a shift in the global balance of power and – in the case of some, like Moscow, Beijing and Tehran – directly counter the United States-led West.

Tacit admission the two are one and the same. To shift the global balance of power the United States-led West must be countered.

But despite Russia’s sweeping rhetoric, the leaders meeting in Kazan have a wide range of viewpoints and interests – a reality of BRICS that observers say limits their ability to send a unified message – especially the kind Putin may desire

Democracy? That's actually a bad thing sweetie.

EU lawmakers clear up to 35 bln euro loan for Ukraine, using Russian assets

BRUSSELS, Oct 22 (Reuters) - European Union lawmakers on Tuesday approved the bloc's plan to use frozen Russian central bank assets to loan up to 35 billion euros ($38 billion) to its ally Ukraine.

The European Parliament voted by 518 in favour to 56 against, with 61 abstentions, for the planned loan to Kyiv in the last legislative step after EU governments agreed the plan earlier in October.

The G7 plans to provide an overall loan of $50 billion to help Ukraine, serviced by profits generated by Russian assets immobilised in the West. These assets were frozen shortly after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

More than two-thirds of the assets, some 210 billion euros, are stuck in the 27-nation European Union, mostly with Belgium's asset safekeeping and servicing company Euroclear.

They can’t even be arsed to give Ukraine their ill-goten gains, but instead loan it? Neocolonizers gonna neocolonize.

in reply to davel

The loan is cash they're giving to Ukraine. The loan is then paid off with profits from the frozen assets. Ukraine does not need to pay for the loan.

serviced by profits generated by Russian assets immobilised in the West

Making it a loan serviced by the assets makes it a large upfront sum that can be paid off without diminishing the original sum, and also makes it all come in the form of easily-used cash

How can you complain about something you know nothing about?
Can you only complain about something you have never experienced?

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

Well, as assholish as he is, at least that guy is honest.

If people started likewise admitting that they are genociding Ukrainians (because hey, it also hurts Russia, so it's worth it) instead of "but we are helping Ukraine!" that would already be a huge progress..

indeed, at least they wouldn't be mincing words about what they're actually doing

UK to lend Ukraine an additional £2.26bn for weapons to fight Russia

Britain is to lend Ukraine an additional £2.26bn and allow Kyiv to spend the money on weapons to fight off the Russian invasion as part of a wider $50bn (£38.5bn) loan programme expected to be confirmed by G7 members later this week.

The loans will be repaid using interest generated by the $300bn of frozen Russian assets held in the west, with the extra funds promised as the US heads towards a presidential election where support for Ukraine is a divisive issue.

Rachel Reeves said: “The profits being made on those assets aren’t being kept for Russia to use in the future. They’re now being used to fund Ukraine.” The chancellor made the announcement alongside the defence secretary, John Healey.

in reply to Turbonics

I'm sure that after hundreds of billions that were poured into Ukraine over the past couple of years, this is going to make all the difference.

'Blade Runner 2049' Producers Sue Elon Musk, Tesla For Copyright Infringement

The production company behind “Blade Runner 2049” filed a lawsuit Monday against Elon Musk and Tesla, accusing them of copyright infringement while promoting a new self-driving car.

In its lawsuit, Alcon Entertainment says Musk used AI-generated imagery mirroring scenes from its 2017 sci-fi film while presenting Tesla’s new autonomous Robotaxi at a marketing event earlier this month. Producers had denied his request to do so.

“He did it anyway,” the suit alleges, adding that the company denied Musk’s request due to the tech mogul’s “extreme political and social views” that occasionally veer into “hate speech.” Musk enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump for president, appearing alongside him at a rally earlier this month, and has espoused transphobic views.

in reply to geneva_convenience

What's great about lawsuits like this is you really only have to prove intent and they have a record of them asking for similar imagery.
in reply to geneva_convenience

Once again the ownership class pirates freely while disparaging the common folk for violating copyright.

It's almost if it's not a real law, rather something by which to disparage the proletariat.
