It’s how you count up to 36 with just one hand. The source also explains nothing.
There’s a difference of half/fully kinked fingers (1 vs. 7).
There are several of that fingerings that I can’t do – either they practiced a lot, or folks had different fingers at that time… 🙃
And I don’t know if left/right hand is significant.
