I reckon Thanos had the right idea at that point, but should have just snapped the entire MCU.

Why is Nick Fury in space now? When did Cpt. Marvel destroy the AI? And what in the holy hells was that dancing/singing planet?
Turns out, I should have watched two series on Disney+. Yeah, no.

Nick Fury being in space is discussed in Spider-Man: Far From Home and a couple of the other films.
On the flashbacks in that film, but Captain Marvel ended with here expressing her intention to do that.
Not in any of the other media, introduced exclusively in that film.
Captain Rambeau was introduced in WandaVision and Ms Marvel in her own show, but neither had anything necessary to understand the film, just additional backstory.
