Prisons in England and Wales are combatting drugs delivered by drones.

From January to October 2024, prisons in the two countries recorded 1,296 drone-related incidents, marking a tenfold increase from 2020, according to a report from The Guardian.

The UK Commons Justice Committee has since opened an inquiry into the issue, and will look into whether signal blockers and other technology can keep drones out of prison airspace, The Guardian reports.

A disturbing look at grooming on social media.

The New York Times reports on a spate of cases where predators posing as photographers and promoters used social media to connect with parents and solicit child sexual abuse imagery, taking advantage of not just Instagram but also parents who want to turn their young children into influencers.

X.Org Server Development Hit A Decade High For The Number Of Commits In 2024

To much surprise, the X.Org Server Git tree saw the most commits in 2024 going all the way back to 2014... While there were many more commits than in years prior, it's not a sign of resurgence for the X.Org Server with Wayland continuing to become the dominant force on the Linux desktop...
phoronix.com/news/X.Org-Server…

in reply to Phoronix

It's nice that #X11 isn't entirely dead.

It's nice that #Wayland is almost entirely alive.

It's nice to have multiple ways to do a thing..

Having more tools available means a wider variety of jobs might have the right one available.

I get that there is nuance, that graphical interface servers are complicated frameworks nobody really wants to have to target 45,872 of just so their app will run in *most* configurations, sure..

..but God bless 'em, gaming has never been easier.
