Sometimes, quotes linger at the back of my mind, waiting for the moment to prove themselves right...
“If we ran then we would have to admit there was something to run from. If we ran, then the small child that lives in every soldier's heart knew that the monsters could get us.”

Getting up Early for the Mountains

I chose this south faced route to a mountain that I had never visited before.
To avoid walking up in the sun I set my alarm to 5am and enjoyed a nice calm, chill walk in the morning.
Come with me. Let's explore this trail and enjoy some views with me!

in reply to poppichew • • •Yes, the cover was a big factor in picking up from the shelf when browsing.
One thing though, there are some sentences here and there that stayed with me, more reflecting my thoughts at the moment than the narrative, perhaps.

in reply to Francisca Staines • • •I will say, and I am not sure if it was because the cover (inside and out) were so visual that I felt like I could see every single thing written in this novel. Sometimes when I am reading, things come and go. Especially with horror, certain things might be written poorly or a bit too abstractly that you cannot see what you're reading. I think from start to finish this whole thing acted as a mini-series/movie and that was really something special about this book. I wish that more stayed with me, I think the biggest thing that stayed with me was the sister's cold smile. I can really see it in my minds eye. It was a sad book though, it was written well. I think if it was a full length novel, maybe it would have given us that "more" we wanted =P!
Thanks for the post!
