Here's the beginning of my first still life for class.

In this first version, I'm drawing in my comfortable high-contrast, high-key value range, but I'm trying to gradually lower all the values (haven't added the dark background yet, obviously). I'm trying hard to keep my highlight values and my shadows separate. I tend to muddle up the middle values and end up with murky.

Sepia pastel pencil outline drawing of a still life with a paint tube leaning on a mug in the center of the paper, and a hammer lying in front angled towards the back.
Same drawing as the first one, but the mug and the hammer have been partially shaded with more sepia and dark brown pencil pastels.

I would be pulling hair out if I had much to pull out.

I'm having issues with my Samsung S-Pen and #krita where lines are being interrupted and broken. Everything is taking twice or three times as long as it should.

I've checked finger/hand touches, cleared app cache etc. I don't seem to have issues writing or scribbling in other #drawing apps.

Wondering if it's the nib as it does bend a bit now.

Other ideas, please?
