Sometimes fascist governments fight each other because they're at cross-purposes despite underlying ideological agreement.

What fascists learned in the Cold War era and beyond is that if you detach the movement from purely national interests and put them in the hands of transnational actors like billionaires and corporations, even if they still use state power to advance their goals, most people no longer recognize what they are or know how to combat them.

Fascism still revolves around greed and bigotry, of course, i.e., white male Christian supremacy in the west, but it is not (and rarely ever was) purely a matter of dictatorships and totalitarianism, which is why most Americans can't recognize it.

It's hybrid regimes, it's business, it's churches, it's technology, it's banal corruption, it's the appearance of business as usual, it's shadowy global politics unobstructed by a system of international laws that was never meant to constrain them.

Americans in particular are suckers for the idea that as long as they can vote (even if they don't, even if it doesn't make a difference) and as long as they can buy the things they want that they aren't laboring under a fascist regime.

There's a reason fascists harp on stuff like Orwell's "1984," which bears almost no relation to fascism in its modern capitalist incarnation other than the control of speech and information, which they're obviously huge fans of.

It isn't the US or Russia who stand to benefit anyway. It's oil and gas companies and the oligarchs who own them. Likewise, Israel. None of these people really give a fuck about Jews or Israelis, but they hate Muslims and Arabic people, they want to get their hands on the real estate and oil rights in the region, and the current fascist Israeli government is amenable to that.

Some of them also want to bring about the apocalypse but I think they're a vocal minority.

These people don't care if the US or US population go broke as long as they can walk away with all the money.

Everything gets privatized eventually, not only to make these people money but to diffuse responsibility. That's all they ever learned from corporate culture. Corporations are people but there is no one person to blame.

The same with "AI." A machine can never be held accountable. Therefore, it's best to blame a machine.

If you point out cops and the military never have trouble getting trillions of dollars in funding despite objectively sucking at their jobs and commiting war crimes and human rights violations on a daily basis, most Americans will give you a horrified stare like you just ate a spider in front of them.

"But we need cops," they will insist.

"But we need a strong military."

"But we need Democrats / Republicans."

"But we need corporations to make money."

"But we need billionaires to exist."

"But we need a strong stock market."

"But my real estate valuation!"

"But... but... but..."

And when you start talking about transnational crime syndicates their eyes start to glaze over because they've been told not to listen to conspiracy theories.

The same way they've been taught not to think about climate change or plastic pollution or any number of things, even when they personally don't stand to benefit economically.

"We can't switch to electric vehicles or mass transit because argle, bargle I can't imagine that. Just like I can't imagine anyone being punished for it."
