Fascism is a cancer that spreads rapidly, and its return is threatening us: is it too much to ask that we oppose it from the start?

A quick way to force an iPhone to prompt for the passcode is to squeeze the buttons on both edges to bring up the “Power off” slider.

Dlatego sprzedałem gry, sprzedałem konsolę i uciekłem do konkurencji. Sam byłem zdziwiony tym, jak pomimo lat przywiązania do sprzętu i marki okazało się to bardzo prostą decyzją. Dlaczego? Cóż:

Today, January 31, 2026, I received an email notification from my previous #healthInsurance company, #GEHA, notifying me that I had a new Explanation Of Benefits available on their website.
I have not been a GEHA member since March 2025.
The notification provided no details about the EOB.
I logged into their portal to find it. The EOB list doesn't show when EOBs were issued, so I had to open them one by one until I found the new one. (1/4)

The EOB they emailed me about was for an appointment that happened over a year ago, on January 30, 2025.
The new EOB says that for some inexplicable reason, a year after the appointment and six months after they processed the claim the first time, they decided to pay the provider $40 more. (3/4)
in reply to Jonathan Kamens 86 47

So much 💩 here:
- Why did it take them six months to process the claim the first time?
- Why did it take them another six months to reprocess it?
- Why does their website make it excruciatingly difficult to find the claims they notify about by email?
- Why don't the email notifications do anything to make that less painful?

And let's not forget:
- Health insurance is 💩 in general. (4/4)

in reply to Jonathan Kamens 86 47

the delay is likely because the provider has to do multiple rounds of resubmissions to get paid properly, each one allows the insurance company some period to respond
in reply to Krzysztof Sakrejda

@wronglang There is no world in which a six month delay for the initial claim being processed followed by another six month delay before the reprocessing is a necessary amount of time.
It is possible the the delay was caused in part be the provider not submitting claims in a timely fashion, but let's not pretend that nobody is doing anything wrong here.

It got worse. I emailed #GEHA through their website and asked them to tell me which EOB I was just notified about since it wasn't indicated in the email and there was no way to tell from looking at the claims page on the website.
They responded: "Unfortunately, those emails are automated and we do not have access to see what claim is associated with the email that is being sent. We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience of this, sir."

Incidentally, speaking of shitty tech, I tried to highlight, copy and paste the text above that I quoted from the message they sent me ("Unfortunately, those emails…") and I couldn't because they're dumb fucking website collapses the messages text whenever you click on it, even to highlight.
I had to use ctrl-A to select and copy all the text on the page, then paste that into a text editor and highlight and copy the desired text from there.

I hope I am not about to give you info you already know. In early 2025 there was the Change Healthcare debacle that cause medical billers (like me) a huge hassle. It was responsible for the hold up in our claims and payments for several months. This could be one reason for the delay in processing. Also, I find that insurance companies are constantly auditing their claims to find overpayments/underpayments, and issue additional payments and takebacks due to contract changes.
in reply to Emconkster 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

@emconkster The Change Healthcare breach was in 2024, not 2025, and by 2025 GEHA was operating mostly normally again.

In 2020 Oxford researchers developed a COVID vaccine that cost pennies to make and announced that they were going to give it away free to the world.

Bill Gates immediately stepped in and pressured Oxford into privatizing the discovery. As a result the vaccine rollout was severely delayed. Imagine how many people died because of him. mintpressnews.com/bill-gates-o…
