St Brigid's Day is #OTD. Brigid's actual existence is debated. She is given different birth and death dates. The volume of the Annals of the Four Masters held in UCD Archives (UCD-OFM MS A13), provides one of her death dates: 525. The full Irish text and translation may be found online as part of the CELT project (celt.ucc.ie).

It might be incredibly helpful to have a look at how #SouthKorea is covering what is happening with the #Trump administration.

Because they have lived through this kind of authoritarian takeover in recent living memory, and it explains why Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached and put on trial so fast. They know where this shit leads

They also experienced a similar phenomenon of massive chebols (multi-national Korean companies & their CEOs) colluding with repressive governments. The rot and corruption of those relationships still plague their society.

But quite honestly, I find that most Americans don't really believe the world has anything to teach them.

Notable, however, is how much regard they have for students as agents for change.

By the way, he recommended a film relevant to the discussion: “1987: When the day Comes”

And it’s so fucking excellent

Russian propagandist Dmitry Rode has stated that Russia is "at war with Europe" and framed the current conflict as part of what he described as a thousand-year-long confrontation between Russia and European states.

Rode said that Russia’s vision of victory has not changed since 2022 and claimed that the only acceptable outcome would be the Russian flag over Berlin. According to him, Russia has "already taken Berlin three times" - in 1760, 1813, and 1945

No artist disappoints more with an album than Maroon 5. They always have two excellent songs on an album. The rest are usually terrible and sound nothing like a Maroon 5 song. #music

ever considered that those are Maroon 5 songs, and the good ones are outliers?

And is it scalable?

I read a recent article suggesting lab-grown protein is, like insect farms, terribly hard to scale up to production levels where it would be accessible and affordable.

I imagine the growing solutions are not so cheap…not to mention the hardware along with the hygiene/sanitation procedures.

(I see no mention of it, so I'll assume this isn't corrected for inflation)

Graphs about money will look exponential by default simply due to the compound interest/inflation. I cannot tell inhowfar what I'm seeing is inflation happening and a roughly constant borrowing rate, or if it's actually accelerating

Not that you're obligated to find this out for me; more that there are people who don't realise this effect might be (partially) distorting the message that this graph depicts

in reply to Luc 🔜 FOSDEM

@luc Inflation is a tricky factor related to (international) debt.
Most used is a comparison to GDP of a country. See fourth graph (years, not days, for this):
