The inclusion of #Rust code in #Linux will be the demise of all #GNU/#Linux systems and the rise of the #LispMachine. #lispm #cadr

This is why “good white folx” attempts to distance themselves from white supremacy AND anti-Blackness fail

EVERY SYSTEM, INSTITUTION, and POLICY is DESIGNED to ensure that you BENEFIT from white supremacy regardless of your active PARTICIPATING in white supremacy

@meuon @KatS
The difference is that GET lets you make assumptions about caching and idempotence that POST doesn't. Presumably QUERY would let you make those assumptions and also have a request body. Simple enough.

@KatS Isn't that essentially a form post, with the type set to GET? It's all pretty abstract anyways if you watch what's really going on on most web servers: get, post, delete, patch.... not sure why a "query" is different than a "get". It's not like you are going to take a raw SQL query and pass it on... are you.. ARE YOU? ;)

I think MS has no intentions to change the way things are but are forced to put an act due to the crowdstrike incident, they will do a few PR stunts and everything will stay as it was, after all it wasn't that bad, the crowdstrike team just fucked up bad by not really testing things...

Thanks for this, I read the Micro$oft blog post last night and I was confused why this was being celebrated as a Linux win at all. The purposed plans are interesting in the context of security software.

Today in Labor History September 15, 1931: Sailors at Invergordon, Scotland, mutinied, causing a panic on the London Stock Exchange and ultimately forcing England off the gold standard. The sailors mutinied primarily over a 25% cut for the rank and file. They sang “The Red Flag” and refused orders. Military control was restored without bloodshed, with the pay-cut reduced to 10%. One of the mutiny leaders later defected to the USSR, where he was imprisoned in the gulags as a British spy. Another mutiny leader later commanded the British Battalion of the antifascist International Brigades, fighting in the Spanish Civil War.

In this video, I quickly created oz3, logged out, and the 1st thing I do after switching users is run, "sudo apt update" without any password.

Note: Video will be DELETED in a few hours. I am not going to keep it up forever.

This is weird. I don't follow exactly how you're getting it to do that--just the ins and outs--but yeah, seems like kind of a giant security hole.
in reply to Orion Ussner kidder

Step 1) Install Mint Linux

Step 2) Using the GUI tool, update Mint

Step 3) Reboot

Step 4) Create new admin (as done in the video)

Step 5) Log out and log in as new user

Step 6) Delete original admin

Step 7) You're basically sudo forever now.

That's how I discovered this.

I have played a little bit with OpenAI's new iteration of #GPT, GPT-o1, which performs an initial reasoning step before running the LLM. It is certainly a more capable tool than previous iterations, though still struggling with the most advanced research mathematical tasks.

Here are some concrete experiments (with a prototype version of the model that I was granted access to). In chatgpt.com/share/2ecd7b73-360… I repeated an experiment from mathstodon.xyz/@tao/1099482491… in which I asked GPT to answer a vaguely worded mathematical query which could be solved by identifying a suitable theorem (Cramer's theorem) from the literature. Previously, GPT was able to mention some relevant concepts but the details were hallucinated nonsense. This time around, Cramer's theorem was identified and a perfectly satisfactory answer was given.
