The SFPD has a history of ignoring clear guidelines on surveillance tech use. Now, the department is scrambling to comply with state law by retroactively legalizing the use of drones they knowingly purchased without approval, according to their own emails. sfstandard.com/2024/09/16/san-โ€ฆ

#SailfishOS #Gecko dev diary Week 49 Summary. Pull requests, reviews, a nice TLS fix from @b100dian and some updated packages to install.

Thanks to all of the brilliant feedback the sharp edges are gradually being knocked off and things are progressing towards a proper ESR 91 release.

@decorum getting that one up on par with the current browser in Ubuntu Touch will take time, especially with our gstreamer-hybris-integration and other hardware specifics. Help is welcome, especially if someone from the other platforms is interested.

All right, I've added the character sheet data editing pane and run a validation pass against the newly created schema before saving which means that the reloads should work as the character sheet has valid data. If the data doesn't validate, it tells you where the issue is and what the actual problem is. Not the sexiest warning, but its useful and gets the job done. #python #pathfinder2e #ttrpg #tui

I've been following this for the last week(end) โ€ฆ amazing stuff.

I just wish it was in emacs. XD

in reply to jsled

@jsled I tried doing something like this for D&D 5E and failed spectacularly a few years ago, so I'm pretty stoked overall. Also, you can keep your `emacs`, we're a Vim house over here ๐Ÿ˜‰

Holy crap, even figured out how to override the default `tab` settings so editing the information doesn't make me want to punch things. This is definitely a win for today.

Pregnancy overhauls the brain. Hereโ€™s what that looks like.

Wait, did I read that right? This study had ONE participant? ONE? Nature printed this study as if it is something real, when you studied ONE person's brain? WTF?

The rise of the Web prematurely ended an era of active research and creative experimentation with hypertext technologies. In this paper @eastgate picks up where this era left off, and presents a neoclassical extension to embed web components in a classical hypertext system.

Talking about AI:

By the way, if you use AI in your software/service/product, and this AI system *might* collect/process/reuse some personal data, you *have to* describe this in your privacy policy.

Yes, it is obligatory by law.

Great God above.

Pensioners just above the poverty line don't need Winter Fuel Allowance but well paid Ministers need to have their clothes bought for them on top of the myriad expenses MPs claim for things us common bogs pay for from our incomes.

Lammy is typical of a political class so far up its own backside it can't see its own absurdity.

This hotel room has the ergonomically worst desk lamp Iโ€™ve ever seen. Itโ€™s controlled by a motion sensor under the lamp head. Wave your hand under it to turn on or off. So if youโ€™re (say) reading a book under the lamp, it turns itself off every time you turn the page.
in reply to Matt Blaze

I have a reading chair that does that. Every time I turn a page I notice how comfortable it is and I doze off...
in reply to Matt Blaze

One of my pet hates is hotel rooms that have been "designed" by a trendy designer who has obviously never actually stayed in a hotel room in their life
