OK, so a vote on the future direction for the monthly Queer Romance Club. Note you don’t have to already be a participant to vote, just thinking about what might make it easier if you DO want to participate.

Researchers have developed a type of concrete that uses discarded shells to trap water. It's now combating floods and food waste in urban gardens and along cycling paths. #ClimateChange
There are certainly areas where third-party developers and open-source projects provide a better experience than Apple's own apps. Consider replacing five macOS apps with these third-party replacements.

Twelve states will soon decide who will run their elections. That office is directly on the ballot in seven states; in five others, voters will elect a governor or lawmakers who’ll then appoint the elections chief.

Friends, I need your help. I know that Instagram isn't the most popular platform on here, but I recently discovered that I need 10,000 Instagram followers before Meta will start paying me to post all the silly stuff I post on Threads. I am currently 3,068 followers away from that goal.
So to be blunt, if you have an Instagram account and are willing to follow me on there, it would mean the world to me. Here is a link that I hope you will find to be most clickable:

A while ago we got some old windows to build a glasshouse. The crew delivering them to our house went too fast on the bumpy rural roads. Most of them have just a crack or two – is there any way to seal those cracks, or do we have to throw them away? They don't need to look beautiful, they should just work.Throwing them out would be a huge waste. Any ideas?
I totally understand why someone would want to do this. I have TONS of freckles, & I love love love them. I always have, & I’ve always felt lucky to have them. Crazy LC hated them—she said they made me look like a “turkey egg” & tried to scrub them off my face with lemon halves.
Turns out, I got them from my super handsome father. I didn’t find that out until I was in my early 50s, but I always somehow knew they were special. 🥰 #adoption #AdopteeVoices popsugar.com/beauty/freckle-ta…

In honor of National Voter Registration Day tomorrow, I hope you'll join me in supporting the Movement Voter Project- which acts like a mutual fund to back trusted organizers who will help democracy win in November and transform policy in 2025.
I do recommend this book:

It dissects Bonapartism and comes to the conclusion that liberal(i)s(m) turns to fascism for help and are willing to give away their social freedom if their economic privileges are not to be harmed.

While we still have some Monday left, it's time for a #bevymergetrain. Like every week, I'm going over the awesome #opensource #rustlang work that our contributors have done for @bevy, providing context, and talking through my rationale as I make the call on whether or not to merge it.
There's 16 PRs that have been approved by at least two people* (any people!): let's take a look: github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pul…+
*trivial PRs only need one
Does anybody know why this is happening?! Look, right. I am loving the Space Marine II multiplayer. The game scored 9/10 overall in my review. But WHY IN THE EMPEROR'S NAME ARE OBJECTIVES A, B AND D.
Do you know how long I spent looking for a objective C!?

in reply to Wendy Palmer • • •I played around with BookWyrm a bit. We can create a group there and then create book lists for use by that group. That would keep the discussion more organized, but would be less conversational just because of the format. And it does require people to visit another site, and make a separate account.
Discord is less organized than BookWyrm but more so than Mastodon. The nice part of it is the feeling of just chatting with friends as you might at a physical gathering, and the topic tends to drift in a similar manner. I'm already on Discord all the time but for those who are not, it would have the same friction as BookWyrm.
I'd say the choice boils down to whether you want a more formal style with discussion that's along the lines of mini-reviews (BookWyrm) or you want a casual chat among friends (Discord). I would be content with either.

in reply to MediaBaron • • •I'm pretty much Kool-Aid-Manning my way into your conversation, so my apologies and please feel free to flame me to a crisp if there's too much "well actually..."
I just wanted to check: are you aware that BookWyrm and Mastodon can talk to each other, so you can have the organization of BookWyrm while still using Mastodon?
I (@ToddPM) can follow my BookWyrm account (@ToddPM@bookrastinating.com) here and interact with it.

in reply to moggie • • •All I've done is a quick back + forth to make sure Mastodon comments show up on BookWyrm and vice versa.
If you already have a BookWyrm username on your instance, plug that into Mastodon like you would if you were to follow any other Mastodon user.
Maybe everyone in your book club doesn't even need to get a separate BW account. If one BW user is "reading" a book, they can all comment from Mastodon.
