John Romero and I had a delightful hour-long chat about preserving video game history with Kelsey Lewin & Ben Hanson on Minnmax. You can watch it here: youtube.com/watch?v=-2WJ0nqiLn…

We covered topics ranging from Game Informer magazine's recent shutdown & deletion of its website by its corporate parent, to Prince of Persia source code, assembly language programming, and why we should all support @internetarchive.

#Brexit deal impact in UK is worsening, warn economists - bbc.com/news/articles/cd988p00… "The value of UK goods exports to the EU sank 27% and imported goods by 32%, according to the report, compared with what it predicts would have happened without Brexit. " reverse this madness

No prob Glyn, I never knew there was a limit, because I am fairly new here.

@lyndamerry484 the actually limit is much higher, but this is more a matter of how much attention I have....

Director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, Eric Topol says XEC is "just getting started".

"And that's going to take many weeks, a couple months, before it really takes hold and starts to cause a wave.

After updating the kernel under #Debian, the file
/var/run/reboot-required
is no longer created.
I was wondering why my ansible playbook doesn't reboot the machine anymore
Does anyone know more?
IMO the post install-Script should create this file
I can't find a bug report on this and needrestart also tells me that a reboot should be

Some years ago, my son said, "Let's play Minecraft!"

Then he watched me open a terminal on #Linux and type:

java -jar Minecraft.jar

He asked what on earth I was doing.

I still wonder sometimes.

…we can’t address climate breakdown because we have the wrong incentives.

Caring more about something we’ve made up (money) than what we’re made of will go down in history as the biggest collective mind fk in history.

In parallel to antibiotics that once worked which are now becoming redundant (also in the news this morning), the worth of the vast pools of capital ‘looking for a return’ will evaporate mastodon.social/@urlyman/11204…

Will falling oil prices hurt #Russia?

The Central Bank of Russia has very limited liquid reserves. It could not do much itself to support the ruble if export earnings collapse, but it could try to tap Russia's "shadow reserves".

One of the many interesting puzzles of Russia’s new post-sanctions economic reality is where Russia’s trade surpluses have gone over the past 2-3 years.

There's a lot to unpack here but maybe we should just throw out the suitcase instead.

People ask if AI will make us devs obsolete. Maybe someday, but today’s LLMs? Nah. The AI bubble will burst, and only a few legit uses will survive. Until then, keep your keyboards handy! 🚀👨‍💻 #TechHumor #AI
