@Eetschrijver Si on limite les moteurs thermiques à 2L/100km avec des véhicules plus petits et moins puissants ça me parait pas insensé de ne pas mettre tous ses œufs dans le même panier électrique si je peux me permettre le jeu de mot. Bon si c'est pour continuer à mettre sur le marché des véhicules de plus de 2t pour transporter un humain et une baguette de pain, on est d'accord c'est carrément con (que le moteur soit thermique ou électrique en fait)
Il reste à voir, bien sûr, sous quelle forme on implémentera cette prolongation. Mais honnêtement, je ne crois pas vraiment à des développements majeurs qui rendraient les moteurs thermiques spectaculairement moins polluantes. Les fabricants sont par trop conscients que c'est une ère qui touche à sa fin ; on ne verra plus de gros investissements en recherche.
Une part de moi ne peut pas s'empêcher de trouver ça risqué de tout miser sur l'électrique sans mettre en place des politiques efficaces pour limiter le recours au véhicule individuel y compris en milieu rural et encadrer la taille et la puissance des véhicules. Ce qu'on voit aujourd'hui sur la flambée des prix du matériel informatique se verra peut-être demain sur les batteries et l'énergie électrique.
J'avoue que ce n'est là pas exclu. Toujours est-il que d'un point de vue environnemental, le thermique ne me semble pas le pari idéal en mobilité. @lemonde

I quite strongly disagree with the characterization that if one is critical of passkeys, then that's the same as not caring about or even being disdainful of median users.
My own personal experience with passkeys is *abysmal* in terms of UX, just straight up *abysmal*. I want passkeys to succeed, to finally fucking end the fourty-plus year experiment with making the public writ large manage passwords. But passkeys, as currently implemented and shown to users just *suck*.
100% I've got one I can't figure out how to remove/change with Apple. On my desktop (with a keyboard with finger scanner) It says “Tap your ios device" or something vague when I try to use a passkey to login. No idea what that is. So every time I login I have to extra click to get to "use password”

Passkey originally crated in Apple Passwords, since deleted. Now want it in Bitwarden. Attempt login: Bitwarden error “No passkeys found for this application.” Elect to “use device or hardware key”, scan QR code, no passkey found, “use Bitwarden?”, choose CVS login entry in Bitwarden. Error, “Passkey not recognized.”
@rmondello Like, I really do like the concept of Passkeys, but the inability to manage passkeys on most websites, and the extreme lack of portability is absolutely a problem.
@angry_drunk @rmondello those are due to specific implementations. Google handles them across 6 OS’s and just as many hardware platforms.
The website issue isn’t a passkey issue, it’s a shit website issue. The difference is basically non-existent perceptually, but there’s also no way other than consumer pressure to make websites fix that. Apple/Google/MS can’t do that.
@bynkii @rmondello I have continually acknowledged that the fundamental concept of Passkeys is good, but that the various and wildly inconsistent implementations are the issue. Having an actual way to transfer Passkeys between managers would go a long way to ameliorate this issue, and Apple absolutely has the ability to affect that.
