These gatherings are open to artists across all art forms, including visual arts, dance, theatre, film, music and writing. The series aims to create a welcoming space for connections, conversations and creative community.

We will also share upcoming opportunities, events and any ideas with the full group.

Atelier du Front Antifasciste populaire sur les groupes d'extrême droite et fascistes qui ont été présents au Québec depuis les années 30, une cartographie des groupes actuels et de l'influence des groupes du passé et la lutte fasciste actuel.

Le Front antifasciste populaire est une initiative de militant•es de la gauche antiautoritaire. Nous voulons nous unir et agir massivement contre l’avancée de l’extrême droite et du fascisme ordinaire qui s’immisce partout : dans la rue, sur nos lieux de travail et dans les médias, comme dans la bouche de certain•nes politicien•nes. Nous croyons fermement que l’antifascisme doit (re)devenir populaire et accessible, autant dans son langage que dans son action.

L'anarcho-shulginisme : une discussion sur l'anarchisme psychédélique et la libération des personnes consommatrices de drogues (CÉDA 123, Anglais)

L'anarcho-shulginisme est la proposition d'une branche de l'anarchisme axée sur les psychédéliques, la libération des personnes consommatrices de drogues, la mad theory, l'amour, la compassion, l'autonomie corporelle et les soins de santé non hiérarchiques. Il s'inspire d'Alexander et Ann Shulgin, qui ont inventé et administré des centaines de composés psychédéliques. Les psychédéliques étaient autrefois envisagés comme un moyen de provoquer une révolution et de nous libérer de nos chaînes : venez discuter de la manière dont nous pouvons concrétiser cela et créer un monde meilleur pour tous !

Trans Island est une anarchiste et militante originaire de Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal. Elle a plusieurs années d’expérience en tant que bénévole dans le domaine de la réduction des risques. Elle possède également une grande expérience dans l’utilisation des psychédéliques et des composés apparentés comme outils pour surmonter et guérir des abus et des traumatismes, des troubles de santé mentale, du deuil et des horreurs quotidiennes d’une société néolibérale autoritaire en phase avancée du capitalisme. Cet atelier est dédié à la mémoire des innombrables ami-es, connaissances et collègues qu’elle a perdu-es ces dernières années – principalement par suicides et d’overdoses.

Antipsychiatrie et soins collectifs (CÉDA 125, Anglais)

Venez discuter avec deux bozos pour comprendre pourquoi les institutions psychiatriques et une grande partie du système de santé mentale ne sont qu'un ramassis de conneries. En toute humilité, nous aimerions surtout aborder le sabotage des institutions psychiatriques et les pratiques de soins collectifs. Nous essaierons de garder une ambiance décontractée et d'éviter de trop théoriser ! Nous espérons que cela suscitera plein d'idées.

De Minneapolis à Montréal : La lutte pour la justice migrante au coeur de la lutte antifasciste (CCGV 2.100, Anglais)

De la violence spectaculaire de l’ICE à la violence bureaucratique insidieuse du Canada, les migrants sont une cible privilégiée du fascisme en Amérique du Nord et partout dans le monde. Cet atelier examinera les racines coloniales de la violence des frontières en Amérique du Nord, ainsi que les dispositifs à travers lesquels l’État surveille, emprisonne, expulse et criminalise les personnes migrantes. Des activistes sans papiers et allié·es montreront en quoi la lutte des migrant·es est essentielle pour résister et démanteler le fascisme. Iels aborderont des techniques de résistance et des modèles de solidarité pour combattre la violence raciste des frontières.

L'atelier sera animé par des membres de Solidarité sans frontières, un réseau de migrants sans papiers et des soutiens qui luttent depuis plus de 20 ans à Montréal contre la déportation et la détention, et pour un statut pour tous et toutes, et par des camarades impliqués dans l’organisation de la lutte à Minneapolis.

Vingt-cinq ans après l'offensive anticapitaliste à Québec : Les anarchistes face au Sommet des Amériques 2001 (CÉDA 119, Bilingue)

Cette discussion permettra d'entendre les témoignages et les réflexions de plusieurs anarchistes qui ont activement organisé la résistance contre le Sommet des Amériques il y a 25 ans et y ont participé. Cet espace a pour but de mener une réflexion collective sur les discussions, les débats et les actions militantes qui ont marqué les mouvements sociaux il y a un quart de siècle, et d’appliquer cette analyse anarchiste à notre période actuelle de résistance contre le capitalisme, le fascisme et l’extrême droite.

Plusieurs anarchistes, originaires de Montréal, de Québec et d’ailleurs, qui avaient participé à l’organisation de la résistance contre le Sommet des Amériques il y a 25 ans.

Nouvelles du Rojava dans un Moyen-Orient en mutation, ou la lutte pour la liberté des Kurdes après la chute de Sheikh Maqsoud (CÉDA 123, Anglais)

Le mouvement de libération du nord-est de la Syrie a occupé une place prépondérante dans l’imaginaire anarchiste. Comment envisager ce projet autonome maintenant qu’il a accepté de s’intégrer au gouvernement de transition syrien ? Où en est ce processus d’intégration ? Quelles leçons pouvons-nous tirer de cette lutte multiethnique fondée sur la communauté ? Cette présentation se terminera par une réflexion sur la manière dont nous pouvons contribuer à la poursuite de cette lutte et sur les raisons pour lesquelles celle-ci est étroitement liée aux autres luttes de libération au Moyen-Orient.

Au printemps 2025, elle a participé à une délégation en Syrie du Nord-Est et a produit le podcast After the Fall: Dispatches from the Women's Revolution in North East Syria. Personnes autochtones disparues et assassinées : le génocide social perpétré par le colonialisme de peuplement contre la terre et ses habitants (CÉDA 125, Anglais)

La violence systémique et la négligence qui entraînent des pertes humaines parmi les peuples autochtones sont le fait de l'État canadien, au service d'un capitalisme extractiviste. La violence politique et économique réactionnaire constitue le fondement de l'appareil sécuritaire canadien. Le déclin social des communautés autochtones est une réalité constante depuis la création de l'État canadien, alimentée par des politiques gouvernementales cruelles et négligentes. Les décès violents prématurés, liés à la pauvreté, à la criminalité, aux violences policières, au racisme environnemental, aux violences sexistes et à l'incarcération. Du commerce des fourrures à la colonisation occidentale, ce phénomène est largement observable dans l'histoire du Nord-Ouest.

La catastrophe climatique qui vient : Édition MTL (CCGV 2.100, Anglais)

Le changement climatique est une réalité. Il est en train de se produire, en ce moment même. Toute chance réaliste que « nous » avions de l’arrêter est désormais perdue. La question n’est pas de savoir si cela va arriver, mais comment, quand et où. Si nous voulons nous préparer, ainsi que nos camarades et nos enfants, à cet avenir plus chaud et plus chaotique, nous devons d’abord savoir à quoi nous nous préparons. Plus nous en savons, plus nous pouvons planifier efficacement ; et plus tôt nous pouvons planifier, meilleures sont nos chances de surmonter ces changements et d’aider les autres. Cet atelier explorera un projet de recherche mené par des anarchistes de Hamilton. La première partie présentera des données applicables à la fois à Hamilton et à Montréal. La deuxième partie explorera le processus derrière le projet et comment le reproduire.

Cet atelier sera animé par deux des anarchistes de Hamilton ayant participé au projet initial.

Rébellions et résistances zapatistes au Chiapas (CÉDA 119)

En février et en mars 2023, et de décembre à février 2026, Guillaume a séjourné au Chiapas, un état du sud-est mexicain marqué par les expériences de luttes et d'autonomie notamment au sein des zapatistes. Dans cet atelier, seront partagés l'histoire, l'actualité et des exemples concrets des communautés autonomes, surtout zapatistes, au Chiapas. Pour ensuite échanger sur l'appel de la Sexta déclaration pour s'organiser pour le commun et pour abattre les pyramides. Avec Amour et Digne Rage.

Le compa Guillaume (il) du collectif autonome Solidarité sans frontières (Sherbrooke, située en territoire Waban-Aki traditionnel non-cédé, le Ndakina). Vers un monde sans prisons : dialogues sur l’abolition et la justice transformatrice (CÉDA 123, Bilingue)

Ce panel propose un espace de rencontre et de réflexion sur les liens entre l’abolition carcérale et la justice transformatrice. Il offrira l’occasion d’ouvrir de nouvelles perspectives, de partager des pratiques et d’imaginer une vision de l’abolition carcérale capable de nourrir notre engagement de manière à la rendre concrètement et émotionnellement envisageable.

Invité·es : Gwenola Ricordeau, Fallon Rouiller et autres à confirmer.

Lueurs est un collectif de justice transformatrice qui intervient localement pour prendre soin directement des dynamiques de violence et de conflit qui émergent dans nos communautés dans une perspective abolitionniste à grande échelle. Gwenola Ricordeau est sociologue, féministe et militante pour l’abolition du système pénal. Elle a écrit et édité de nombreux livres sur l'abolition policière et carcérale, notamment "Brique par brique. Pour une histoire de l’abolitionnisme pénal" ou '"1312 raisons d'abolir la police". Son plus récent livre, "Tant qu'il y aura des prisons" est sorti ce printemps. Fallon s’implique depuis plusieurs années dans diverses initiatives anti-carcérales et œuvre à garder des traces de l’histoire de personnes détenues et de leurs luttes au soi-disant Canada.

Combattre l'extractivisme : Perspectives anarchistes sur les luttes contre l'industrie minière et la foresterie sur le Nitaskinan (CÉDA 125, Bilingue)

Cet atelier sera composé de deux courtes présentations par des anarchistes d'ici qui partageront quelques mises à jour sur les luttes en cours contre la foresterie et l'industrie minière proche de Montréal. La première présentation se concentrera sur la résistance contre l'industrie forestière sur le Nitaskinan (Atikamekw/Nehirowisw territory), incluant les blocages au km 134 sur le chemin Parent, ainsi que d'autres actions directes - revendiquées ou non - ayant eu lieu récemment. La deuxième présentation présentera quant à elle le projet de mine à ciel ouvert de l'entreprise Nouveau Monde Graphite à Saint-Miche-des-Saints. Cela incluera également une analyse sur la manière dont l'État canadien se sert de la transition écologique et de la course aux minéraux critiques comme prétexte pour intensifier le boom minier sur le territoire et achever l'électrificaton du monde et de la machine de guerre. L'atelier se terminera par une période de questions et de discussion.

Albert est actif au sein de diverses luttes grassroots locales et internationales depuis l’adolescence, essayant particulièrement de mobiliser la justice climatique comme nexus pour la libération collective et date limite pour se débarrasser de l’état. Son travail se concentre à bâtir les alliances internationalistes vers la réalisation des souverainetés Autochtones en tant que projet politique, dans le contexte du marasme identitaire au soi-disant « Québec ». Il lutte spécifiquement contre le recyclage du « maître chez nous » pour toujours repousser les frontières extractives. Ainsi qu'un autre anarchiste local ayant de l'expérience dans la lutte contre la foresterie industrielle et le conialisme.

Décolonialité et résistances queers (CÉDA 119)

Discussion autour du livre Décolonialité et résistances queers Tandis que l’autoritarisme et les discours réactionnaires gagnent du terrain, et que les communautés LGBTQ+ en subissent les violences répétées, la pensée critique se dresse comme un rempart. Après Sexualités et dissidences queers, ce deuxième tome rassemble des chercheur·es et des militant·es qui inscrivent les résistances queers dans une approche frontalement décoloniale et transnationale.

Marianne Chbat est sociologue, chercheure et militante. Elle est professeure associée à l’École de travail social de l’Université de Montréal et directrice de la recherche au GRIS-Montréal. Elle a fait paraître en 2024 Famille queers. Récits et célébrations. - Chacha Enriquez est activiste queer depuis une vingtaine d'années et enseignant·e en sociologie au collegial et à l'UQAM. Iel a coordonné l'ouvrage Sexualités et dissidences queers. Nous ne savons pas encore qui d'autre participera, voici la liste des coauteurices : Reem Alameddine, Samya Amrani, Anne C. L'anti-autoritarisme en traduction : l'esthétique révolutionnaire dans les pays arabes (CÉDA 125, Anglais)

À quoi ressemble l'anarchisme au-delà de l'Amérique du Nord et de l'Europe ? Les révolutions du début des années 2010 dans différents pays arabes ont fait l'objet de débats quant à leur caractère anarchistes. En examinant la traduction entre l'anglais et l'arabe ainsi que l'histoire de l'anti-autoritarisme dans la région, on peut explorer les domaines dans lesquels la littérature anarchiste ne parvient pas à saisir une perspective internationale et ceux où les recoupements peuvent être approfondis.

Loco est un écrivain, éditeur et organisateur anarchiste de Montréal qui s'est impliqué dans des projets de solidarité locaux et qui a des racines dans la région arabe.

Les déportations: les comprendre pour s'y opposer (CCGV 2.100)

Dans un premier temps, cet atelier expliquera les différents processus menant à la perte de statut d'immigration. Ensuite, il abordera le fonctionnement du système d'incarcération et de déportation des personnes migrantes. Enfin, il offrira des outils pour lutter contre les déportations.

Noé milite pour les droits des personnes migrantes et des personnes sans statut depuis 2018. Son objectif est d'enseigner aux personnes détenant un statut permanent comment agir à titre de filet de sécurité pour les personnes à statut précaire et sans statut en prévision de la dérive répressive vers laquelle nous nous dirigeons.

Les ateliers se termineront à 17h30.

Workshop by the Front Antifasciste populaire (Front Pop) on the far-right and fascist groups that have been active in Québec since the 1930s, including a mapping of current groups and a discussion of the influence of past groups and the ongoing struggle against fascism.

Anarcho-Shulginism: A discussion on psychedelic anarchism & drug user liberation (CÉDA room 123)

Anarcho-Shulginism is a proposal for a branch of anarchism centered around psychedelics, drug user liberation, mad theory, love, compassion, bodily autonomy, and non-hierarchical healthcare. It is inspired by Alexander and Ann Shulgin, who invented and self-administered hundreds of psychedelic compounds. Psychedelics were once envisioned as a way to bring about a revolution and free us from our chains: come chat about how we can actualize that and create a better world for all!

Trans Island is an anarchist and activist from Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. She has several years of experience as a harm reduction volunteer. She is also experienced in using psychedelics and related compounds as tools to navigate and heal from abuse and trauma, mental health, grief, and the daily horrors of authoritarian neoliberal late-stage capitalist society. This workshop is in memory of the countless friends, acquaintances, and colleagues she has lost in recent years - primarily to suicides and drug overdoses.

Come chat with two bozos about why psychiatric institutions and much of the mental health care system are a load of bullshit. In all humility, we’d especially like to discuss the sabotage of psychiatric institutions and collective care practices. We’ll try to keep things informal and not too theoretical! We hope this sparks a lot of ideas.

From Minneapolis to Montreal: The Struggle for Migrant Justice at the Centre of the Fight against Fascism (CCGV 2.100)

From the spectacular violence of ICE to Canada’s insidious bureaucratic violence, migrants are a prime target of fascism in North America and around the world. This workshop will examine the colonial roots of border violence in North America, as well as the mechanisms the state uses to monitor, imprison, deport, and/or criminalize migrants. Undocumented activists and allies will argue that the migrant struggle is essential to resisting and dismantling fascism. They will discuss techniques of resistance and models of solidarity to combat racist border violence.

The workshop will be facilitated by members of Solidarity Across Borders, a network of undocumented migrants and supporters who have been fighting against deportation and detention, and for status for all, for over 20 years in Montreal, and by comrades involved in organizing the struggle in Minneapolis.

This space is meant to collectively reflect on the discussions, debates and organizing that dominated social movements a quarter of a century ago, and to apply that anarchist analysis to our current period of resisting capitalism, fascism and the far-right. Updates from Rojava amid a changing Middle East, or the Kurdish freedom struggle after the fall of Sheikh Maqsoud (CÉDA room 123)

The liberatory movement in NE Syria has loomed large in the anarchist imagination. How do we think of this autonomous project now that they have agreed to incorporate into the Syrian Transitional Government? How far along is the incorporation? What lessons can we learn from this communal based multi-ethnic struggle? This presentation will end by sharing how we can contribute to attempts to carry on the struggle and why this struggle is bound up other liberation struggles in the Middle East.

Rênas is a Syrian Kurdish activist based in Montreal. Virginia is a contributor to the Prison Radio Show on CKUT 90.3FM in Montreal. In the spring of 2025, she participated in a delegation to North East Syria and produced the podcast After the Fall: Dispatches from the Women's Revolution in North East Syria. A book version of the podcast featuring the full transcripts of interviews from the delegation has just been published.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous People: Settler-Colonial Social Murder of the Land and its Relatives (CÉDA room 125)

Systemic violence and neglect leading to loss of life among Indigenous people is driven by the Canadian state in service of extractivist capitalism. Reactionary political and economic violence form the foundation of the Canadian security apparatus. Social decay in Indigenous communities has been a constant since the emergence of the state of Canada, driven by cruel and neglectful government policies. Premature violent death driven by poverty, crime, police violence, environmental racism, gendered violence and incarceration. From the fur trade to western settlement this can be observed broadly in the history of the North-West.

The Coming Climate Catastrophe: MTL Edition (CCGV 2.100)

Climate change is happening. It’s happening right now. Any realistic chance “we” had of stopping it has past us by. The question isn’t if, but how, when and where? If we are going to prepare ourselves, our comrades, our children for this warmer, more chaotic future, we have to first know what we are preparing ourselves for. The more we know, the more effectively we can plan; and the sooner we can plan, the better our chances of weathering these changes and being of any help to others. This workshop will explore a research project undertaken by Hamilton anarchists. The first half will be presenting data applicable to both Hamilton and Montreal. The second half will explore the process behind the project and how to replicate it.

This workshop will be presented by two of the Hamilton anarchists who participated in the original project.

Zapatista Rebellion and Resistance in Chiapas (CÉDA room 119, French)

In February and March 2023, and from December 2023 to February 2026, Guillaume stayed in Chiapas, a state in southeastern Mexico marked by a history of struggle and autonomy, particularly among the Zapatistas. This workshop will share the history, current events, and concrete examples of autonomous communities, particularly those of the Zapatistas, in Chiapas. We will then discuss the call of the Sixth Declaration to organize for the common good and to tear down pyramids. With Love and Dignified Rage.

Towards a World Without Prison: Dialogues on Abolition and Transformative Justice (CÉDA room 123, Bilingual)

This panel provides a space for discussion and reflection on the connections between prison abolition and transformative justice. It will offer an opportunity to explore new perspectives, share best practices, and envision a path toward prison abolition that can fuel our commitment, making it both practically and emotionally conceivable.

Fallon has been involved in various anti-prison initiatives for several years and works to document the history of people in detention and their struggles in so-called Canada.

Fighting Extractive Industry: Anarchist Perspectives on Struggles against Mining and Forestry on the Nitaskinan (CÉDA room 125, BIlingual)

This workshop will include two brief presentations and updates from local anarchists on the ongoing resistance to the forestry and mining industries near Montreal. The first presentation will focus on the fight against the logging industry on the Nitaskinan (Atikamekw/Nehirowisw territory), including the blockade at km 134 of chemin Parent and recent claimed and unclaimed direct actions. The second presentation will focus on Nouveau Monde Graphite's proposed open-pit graphite mine in Saint-Michel-des-Saints. Analysis will also be shared on the wider push for mining in territory governed by the canadian state under the pretext of the green transition, and the race for critical minerals to fuel the electrification of our world and the war machine. The workshop will conclude with a question and discussion period.
This workshop will be given in both languages. Whisper translation will be offered.

Albert has been active in a variety of local and international grassroots struggles since their teenage years, trying to tackle climate justice issues as a nexus for collective liberation and deadline to smash the state. Their work currently focuses on building internationalist alliances toward advancing Indigenous sovereignties as a political project in the context of so-called “Quebec”’s identity crisis/disaster. They specifically attempt to counter “green” (re)colonization and the great return of “maîtres chez nous” narratives now remobilized to expand extractive frontiers. As well as another local anarchist with experience in the struggle against industrial forestry and colonialism.

Decoloniality and Queer Resistance (CÉDA room 119, French)

Discussion about the book Décolonialité et résistances queers: as authoritarianism and reactionary narratives gain ground, and LGBTQ+ communities are repeatedly the targets of violence, critical thought presents itself as a bulwark. Following Sexualités et dissidences queers, this second volume gathers researchers and activists who place queer resistance within an openly decolonial and transnational approach.

Marianne Chbat is a sociologist, researcher and activist. She is an associate professor at the School of Social Work of the Université de Montréal and research director of GRIS-Montréal. In 2024, she published Familles queers : récits et célébrations. Chacha Enriquez has been a queer activist for over twenty years and teaches sociology in cegeps and at UQAM. They were the editor of Sexualités et dissidences queers.

Antiauthoritarianism in Translation: Revolutionary Aesthetics in Arab Countries (CÉDA room 125)

What does Anarchism look like beyond North America and Europe? Revolutions in the early 2010s in different arab countries have been the subject of discourse regarding their status as anarchist movements. By looking at the nature of translation between English and Arabic as well as a history of Anti-authoritarianism in the region, one can explore the areas where anarchist literature fails to capture an international angle and where overlaps can be further explored.

Loco is an Anarchist writer, editor and organizer in Montreal who has been involved in local solidarity projects and has roots in the arab region.

Understanding Deportations to Oppose Them (CCGV 2.100, French)

First, this workshop will explain the various processes that can lead to the loss of immigration status. Next, it will discuss how the system of incarceration and deportation of migrants works. Finally, it will provide tools for fighting deportations.

Noé has been advocating for the rights of migrants and undocumented individuals since 2018. Their goal is to teach people with permanent status how to act as a safety net for those with precarious or no status, in anticipation of the increasingly repressive direction we are heading.
