I would guess they're more than happy to see generics become inaccessible if they can extract promises that newer proprietary drugs are left untouched.

I read this chart differently. It says people disapprove of these extreme promises when asked. That doesn't mean they care about them, or voted based on them. If anything, I read it as evidence that people shrugged and said "meh, whatever" about this vile stuff when figuring out who to vote for.
