So this group is now a partner with #NationalVoterRegistrationDay org --> and we have three days to push out across the US fediverse and to make as big a splash as we can on the day itself - September 17th! Put any ideas you have in the comments!
Reminder: Sept 17th is #NationalVoterRegistrationDay! Help us drive a US-focused fediverse-wide push to get the word out. Here is the toolkit for social sharing:

Hey people: before some work from this group, #nationalvoterregistrationday tagged posts had virtually ZERO presence on the Fediverse.
We have a great 3 day ramp-up to get this out there before Sept 17. It is a perfect window to push folks to check their registration and get it done. Let's see how far we can push this, and boost other posts with that tag.

Hiroshima: The Last Witnesses by M. G. Sheftall, 2024
The first volume in a two-book series about each of the atomic bomb drops that ended the Pacific War based on years of irreplicable personal interviews with survivors to tell a story of devastation and resilience.

I think for some reason my tray icons aren't showing up. I can see that nm-applet is running, but there's no icon for it. And the current #Debian stable no longer has "stalonetray" for me to run a standalone system tray for testing.
I've looked at the sway manpages, and there's only a mention of the tray in say-bar(5). I added
tray_output *
to the
bar {
section of the config, but that didn't make it show up, either.
Any ideas?
Interesting!
I tried manually killing nm-applet and starting it directly from the command line, but it's still not showing up.
I wonder if it's the somewhat convoluted system of include files I'm using. It's a bit of a mess (to allow for theming).
the main sway config sources one file for colors, another for the bar { } part, and another per-hostname include file.
I'd hate to start over from scratch. XD
The announcement of Laravel’s raise of $57M from Accel included a Q&A, and one of the questions they posed was “Can Laravel buy #PHP now?” Which, of course, no.
But that has been rattling around in my head, and led me to think: how much has Laravel and/or its founder contributed to @thephpf?
Because the Foundation publishes the list of contributions, you can look that up.
I wonder if Laravel Holdings will take the Open Source Pledge. osspledge.com
Maybe a lawyer with experience in #FOSS could answer the question better than me.
From my perspective, the contributors (not the foundation) to the implementation, and that includes @rasmus and Zend Technologies, unless they accepted an EULA/TOS where they concede their contribution.
The language API is not copyrightable (One Real Asshole Called Larry Ellison vs Google).
Trademarks and logos would be Rasmus property. That would include the domain regardless of the registrar.
"Hasbro's CEO thinks D&D's adoption of AI Is inevitable."
"If you look at a typical D&D player... I play with probably 30 or 40 people regularly. There's not a single person who doesn't use AI somehow for either campaign development or character development or story ideas. That's a clear signal that we need to be embracing it. We need to do it carefully, we need to do it responsibly, we need to make sure we pay creators for their work, and we need to make sure we're clear when something is AI-generated."
Yet...

I think the #MVI will end up with the #Windows Kernel having a “Security API” where software will be able to peek and poke relevant system information to avoid tampering or suspicious activity.
The problem is the chain of trust. I expect #AntiCheat software to become useless, and servers having to analyze user behavior to find cheaters.
#Proton and #Wine users: you may have a shot playing #Valorant.
