TITLE: Social identity complexity decreases exclusion of immigrants by reducing the glorification dimension of national identification

Group Processes & Intergroup Relations, Ahead of Print. The aim of this research was to investigate interrelationships among social identity complexity, national glorification, and exclusion of immigrants, conceptualized as relational exclusivity. The concept of relational exclusivity reflects the conditions newcomers are expected to meet in order to be welcomed and allowed to settle in the host country. The findings across four studies (three correlational and one experimental; total N = 2,002) consistently indicated that complex identity is negatively, whereas glorification is positively, associated with relational exclusivity. Furthermore, in all studies, we consistently demonstrated that the relationship between social identity complexity and relational exclusivity is mediated by reduced glorification. Consequently, the findings suggest that social identity complexity has the capacity to reduce national glorification and, subsequently, indirectly reduce the exclusion of immigrants.

I've had a decent night, but it was a bit short as it took some time to fall asleep. There was loads of noise from outside and I kept listening to sounds from the living room, as I'd just given Arwen some painkiller for the night. The annoying sound kept going throughout the night. Apparently they have a pump or generator on at the houses project behind our house and it was still running when I got up again.

So I have a slight headache at the moment. Fortunately, my adductor is less painful now. At least, I was able to walk when I got up. Yesterday when I got up, I felt like I needed to crawl... 😔

The scale was very unkind this morning. The stress didn't do me much good, and with the pain in my leg, I exercised less and ate more... So it's my own fault that the scale showed me these bad numbers... Hopefully the fundraiser will give some relief from the stress so I'll be able to do better. Also, less pain in my leg could mean I can slowly get some more steps in again... 🤞🏻

I'm still feeling all sorts of emotions. It's a very weird feeling, as some are very positive and some are negative. Even though I know the negative ones aren't warranted, I still feel them. Yay for depression... 😔 I feel bad still for asking for help to provide the best care for Arwen. There is that voice in me that condemns me as a bad owner as I should be able to care for my own pet! There is also hope and gratefulness, to the point that it's overwhelming me, from all the help I've been receiving so far!

I've just tried to set up the payment bit of GoFundMe, I've given all info and they said it's verified. But then it tells me it needs more info. But when I click that, it shows me that I shared all that I need to and that they have accepted it all. So I guess it just takes some time before it's all processed? The first payment could happen in a few days, which would be good to cover part of the vet visit this Friday. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I don't know how I'll ever be able to pay this kindness forward... 😊 Should I ever get some money, then I'll definitely do my best to pay the kindness that I received forward to others that may need assistance at that moment. 😊 Unfortunately, I expect that, should I ever come into some money, it probably means that I've lost one or both of my parents... So hopefully it will take some time before that moment comes...

I guess I should get myself ready to do some cardio. The scale told me that I definitely need to burn some of those killer calories. And I know I need to take it easy due to the adductor not being all healed up. But a slow walk is better than being on my big behind in a chair. 😉
