While these browsers may attract loyal followings, they lack the resources of their mainstream counterparts, making sustainability a significant challenge.

Why Alternative Browsers Struggle to Survive

Alternative web browsers often start with ambitious goals—to disrupt the dominance of mainstream players or to offer niche features catering to privacy-conscious users and tech enthusiasts. However, most of these browsers face an uphill battle to sustain themselves in the long run. Their primary challenges? A lack of funding and scale.

While this niche community may be loyal, it simply doesn’t generate the large-scale adoption required to build a profitable and sustainable business.

Mainstream browsers like Google Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge operate with the backing of tech giants with deep pockets. These browsers can afford to sustain losses, push aggressive marketing, and release cutting-edge features without relying on risky monetisation strategies.
