I can't see all the angles here, but my immediate reaction is that it is a rubbish idea. There's no incentive. What are they going to do - tell criminals they have to do shit unpaid work or else be locked up? There's no incentive. It's all stick. If you don't do a good job we'll extend your sentence? That is tantamount to slavery. The reason the prisons are overcrowded is because there's been a fundamental breakdown in the structure of society, driven by GREED. A more equitable society with greater opportunities and mobility would solve such a huge array of problems that compound one another. What's the starting point? It is always.... tax the rich sensibly. Noone needs castles and butlers and jets. And kids in 2025 should not be dying of hunger. It's disgusting. And idiotic bandaids like this are just political clickbait.

I used to manage a children's centre, one weekend, the management committee decided they'd let the parole service bring some people in to redecorate the place... they did so.

But because they weren't watching them properly... the never noticed that they jimmied a window from the inside to make it easy to open from the outside... and they came back at night that same weekend and robbed the place... taking toys, games, a TV and videos from children.

The parole service isn't actually fit to do it's most basic role... and it's gotten worse in the 25yrs since that happened.

Now because of overcrowding in prisons, more and more people are being released who haven't been rehabilitated and the numbers of those re-offending keeps rising.

The trump FDA approved Novavax Covid vaccine but only for older adults and those over age 12 who have at least one medical condition that puts them at high risk from Covid.
FDA also added new study requirements that could cost the company tens of millions.

Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert from Children’s Hospital - "I think the goal of RFK Jr. is to make vaccines less available, more expensive and more feared. His goal is to tear away at the vaccine infrastructure.”

Oh The Stupid Car is the gift that keeps on giving. Doing a final run up to temp with the new coolant, I spot some steam coming out of the radiator. The crappy fan mount had worried its way through one of the tubes.

Bugger.

@BitchinRob I may moan, but I am actually enjoying the challenges it's throwing at me. I've ordered a replacement (due Wednesday) and I can use this one to figure out a better fan mounting. I had had that on the to do list for quite a while, it's now at the top.

Went looking for podcasts about Carl Sagan but the search suggested Tucker Carlson and this is why we can't have nice things.
