Le ventre creux de la Commune
cqfd-journal.org/Le-ventre-cre…

"1870-1871, l'année terrible. La population parisienne assiégée d'abord par les Prussiens puis par les Versaillais connaît une situation de pénurie qui la pousse à réinventer l'assiette du quotidien… entre famine, bidoche d'éléphant et rêves de liberté. Imaginez le tableau : Paris, septembre 1870, l'armée de Napoléon le troisième s'est pris une déculottée à Sedan, et les Prussiens serrent la capita"

When I was President of my Students Union, NUS was largely controlled by NOLS, later Labour Students, a very right-wing grouping of mainly university Students. Left Unity was the main grouping for Further Education Student Unions. But NUS was always a stitch-up. They saw to it that Further Education Students (the majority) had most students who only counted as a tenth of a vote with smaller delegations. My college had 32,000 students at that time, but a card vote at conference of about 4,000. So NUS is not, and never has been, a democratic organisation.

We were just talking about the NUS yesterday and I was remembering how I felt (in the early 90s) that it was an irrelevance and a distraction.

Microsoft can't protect French data from US government access

ppc.land/microsoft-cant-protec…

"The Senate testimony's implications reach beyond Microsoft to encompass broader digital sovereignty questions affecting European markets. Similar vulnerabilities likely exist across other US technology providers serving European governments and enterprises."

in reply to Jurjen Heeck 🍋

Europe must move away from excessive reliance on US data giants who ultimately serve the US dictatorship.

A lovely and fun gift from my mom: a crocheted tea cozy wolf. It’s even non-binary since it has two different sides.

This well-preserved early medieval wooden flask once contained a beer that had been strengthened with honey.
It was found in Trossingen. Due to the water-logged condition of the area, many wooden objects have survived.
Dating 580 AD.

*Le prestazioni commerciali di un determinato prodotto influiscono ovviamente sul buon andamento industriale di chi lo “sforna” o di chi ne ha assicurato gli specifici ingredienti.

@Jodi Dry food only! Ouch! We had to take one cat off dry food because it caused bladder stones. Within one month he was in so much less pain. However, he was also REALLY grumpy about not having his beloved hard food. In the end I would give him a few pieces of kibble once a day as a treat.
