Around 12:00, the constant forced shift in priorities feels like setting them up to fail. It gives (err, LDS priests?) excuses to keep people feeling bad about themselves, seeking external atonement from authority figures.
That feels weird to me, as someone who grew up with very traumatised parents.
Constant tests, keeping you off-balance, nothing is ever good enough, nor are you allowed to question the rules -- which keep changing but "what are you talking about? It's always been like this!"

And yeah, FWIW, your description of how marriage is expected by 24 years old or so, or else people start to wonder what's "wrong" with you:
that sounds very close to what I noticed people expected for "losing" your virginity (PiV ofc, as if any other sex acts "counted" /s),
both on USAF bases and off-base in the UK.
