Autism is like a unicorn - it is invisible. Of course there are cases where its symptoms are visible, but in many cases it is not. This is also often the reason why people question or downplay it in autistic people.

However, this is not only true of autism, but also of other mental illnesses (e.g. depression, anxiety, etc.).

Also, because far too many people's understanding of what autism is, is still basically medieval and deficit driven, there is almost an incentive for them to deny it for those they know and love. More often than not, it's why families in particular can find it so difficult when we come out as autistic, after finally realising it later in our lives. Their justification is, so often, because we don't look autistic.
It also makes it so much harder for so many of the things that can occur from being autistic for so long without realising it ourselves and therefore judging ourselves by impossible and completely unrealistic expectations, like depression and low and self-destructive self-esteem, to be even seen, let alone treated, correctly.

@pathfinder Yes, many people think of autism as just a mental disability or a childhood illness. They don't know that a person who looks like a completely normal person can also be autistic.

Okay, so Trump-apologists argue that Trump does not draw and does not use the word "enigma" (which, given his level of fluency in English, was hard for me to believe, either).

You serious, folks? I think we're way beyond that. No one needs a drawing and some childish enigmatic words to consider it plausible that Donald "Locker-Room-Talk" Trump was one of Epstein's clients. Trump is a rapist and sexual offender and has already been ordered to pay over 88 million USD because of that.

Naturalized Citizens Are Scared

β€œLast month, DOJ released a civil-enforcement memo listing the denaturalization of citizens as a top-5 priority, pledging to β€œmaximally pursue” all viable cases, incl those who are β€œa potential danger to national security” & , more vague, anyone β€œsufficiently important to pursue.”

#Trump suggested that targets may incl citizens he views as political enemies, such as #Mamdani”

There's a concept known as "minority stress," which has only ramped up in the last 6-8 months.

Even if you haven't been directly targeted (yet), the simple idea that you MIGHT be puts you in a constant state of fight-or-flight.

The security of living in a country where at least you felt "doing nothing wrong" meant you'd be left alone has gone out the window.

Every day, I feel tired, scared, distracted, uneasy, sad, and uncertain. It's not a good way to live. It damages relationships, careers, friendships, and so much more.

We should be removing these people from office immediately just for putting people in this situation, much less acting on it.

Giving Up on Element & Matrix.org

The Matrix.org network has great potential, but after years of dealing with glitches, slow performance, poor UX, & one too many failures, I’m done with it.

@randulo It's not my post. I just shared it. But the answer to your question is in the article.

I have one remaining use for Matrixβ€”which I’d successfully abandoned beforeβ€”and its flaws make me actively not want to participate. I had to rejoin irc for something this week and was struck by how much better that, relatively substandard, experience is that Matrix/Element. Great read. Great advice.

The video showcases a series of innovative desk accessories, starting with a white, screw-like stand with two slots designed to hold Nintendo Switch controllers. A hand places the controllers into the slots, demonstrating the stand's functionality. The scene transitions to a white drawer labeled "#7 Phone Vault," which is pulled out from under a desk to reveal a smartphone inside. The phone is then removed and placed on the desk, highlighting the drawer's secure storage feature. The video concludes with a green, foldable laptop stand labeled "#6 Laptop Stand," which is unfolded and adjusted to support a laptop, emphasizing its portability and ease of use. The background features a cozy living room setting with a brown couch, a plant, and a wooden table, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. The TikTok username '[@]forgecore' is visible throughout the video, indicating the creator of the content.
