The ancient festival, held in Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland in North East England, has it roots stretching back a good few hundred years.
The event which sees a traditional ox roasting, carnival parade led by Houghton Pipe Band, heritage events and a popular fairground, is held every first weekend of October.
The forecast for tomorrow's Carnival Parade is for drier conditions, but with gusty winds continuing throughout the day.

One of my favourite new-to-me things in Iceland that I found this year was this information booth/rest stop on top of a mountain pass in East Iceland. If you're going to see puffins in Hafnarholmi harbour, you wouldn't miss it. Clean and free public toilet, great view. What's not to love? 🙂
