I got very mad about the Australian government's absolutely useless "Whole of Government AI Plan" and wrote a very long post.

Feedback welcome. I'm not an expert.

Tiny piece of structural feedback - your first use of "old mate" is before you tie that term to Hansford (next sentence implies it contextually, but I still ended up searching for other uses to confirm)

So say they release the epstein files...what happens?

I honestly don't expect ANYTHING to happen. What, they're gonna impeach him for the 3rd time with no additional consequences?

Are we depending on some level of decorum, or even common decency from the GOP to finally convict?

I mean, his base knows he diddles little girls. They know he's a fraud. They know he's a thief. They know all these things.

I mean what, are we expecting them to all suddenly grow morals?

Please.

Yesterday (2025-11-11), the most recent major quarterly release of Android (Android 16 QPR1) was pushed to the Android Open Source Project after being delayed since 2025-09-03. We've completed our initial port of all our changes to it and are building an experimental release now.
in reply to Shawn Webb

@lattera No, we still need to complete our massive overhaul of our adevtool project for automated device support. We were able to get the Pixel 10 booting with hacked together support for it without Android 16 QPR1 but now we can do it properly. It will likely be a couple days before our Android 16 QPR1 port is fully ready since we didn't have early access to it. It will then likely be at least several more days before we can launch experimental Pixel 10 support based on our new 16 QPR1 branch.
in reply to GrapheneOS

@lattera It could take longer if things go wrong. Things often go wrong. Our focus is porting to Android 16 QPR1 as quickly as possible and getting it into a production quality state for existing users. Once we accomplish that, we can shift focus to Pixel 10 support. We also still need to deal with the ongoing significant workload for the new security preview releases. We haven't been able to get much work done on major new features for a while because of all this stuff going on.
in reply to GrapheneOS

This sounds like a lot of work! What's the best way for people with Android dev experience to help out? Edit: wait, is that even allowed with the high security nature of the project?

I find it fascinating that the H-1B visa is a red line that neither Elon Musk or Trump is willing to cross even though it pisses off the base.

I wonder if it's his crypto bros telling him this stuff, or some other rich CEOs?

The purpose of immigration crackdowns has always been to make the lives of immigrants precarious so that their employers have more power. The xenophobes in the base get off to the performative cruelty but their hopes of reduced competition for jobs will never be indulged. After all, even if the government tried to, it will lead to offshoring of operations. These kids complaining about Indian immigrants are wasting their time and effort.

@thecasualcritic How did you make the hashtags in your write.as blog. I want to do that! Also, your Thunderbolts review makes me want to watch it, even with Marvel fatigue.
