Accidentally saw a post on Threads where someone said "i think I'm dating someone autistic".
And showed a snip of their chat about something romantic.
And he stopped to tell the person essentially: "if you're building a PC soon, buy your RAM now."

OK but he ain't wrong! 💅🏿Buy your RAM AND your SSD now because due to AI data centers & greedy companies, them prices gonna SKYROCKET in the new year. The whole PC tech world has been in an uproar.
(I am also very autistic.)

Would I stop the in the middle of a romantic conversation to tell someone to pick out PC parts NOW before it bankrupts them in 2026, too?

I mean, affordable PC parts are important. It's showing my partner(s) that I care about their technological well being. 🫶🏿

Earlier, I was sure I had grabbed a can of beer from the kitchen, and taking it to the living room. But couldn't find it.

Well I just found it in my bike helmet...

ah. Don’t you love it when you do things like that?
Everybody does it to some degree just some of us a lot more often than others

Interesting, watching "Foyle's War" for a bit of unwinding this evening to see Lawrence Fox acting, fitting seamlessly into the persona of a Nazi sympathiser. He seems to have been born into the part 🙂🙂🙂

People who request takebacks and draws in 3min. chess are wild. We're playing so fast, how am I even supposed to notice you made the request, but also, maybe I'm wrong, but the whole point of 3min chess means you need to be quick enough not to make those kind of mistakes or else they're punished. And the games are so quick... just play it out. See where it goes. It's almost your next game, anyway.

@jepyang right?? I make awful mistakes constantly. I don't want to waste the time on a takeback. If it's really*that* bad, no possible recovery, I'll just resign and give the other side the points. They earned them lol
in reply to 🌈Lucy🏳️‍⚧️ | Revoluciana

@jepyang Honestly in short enough time control chess (and more at lower rating) the mistakes you make aren't really unrecoverable. Harder sure but people will make mistakes, even if you are heading to loss you see no escape from maybe there is a way to pull it back to at least a draw with a stalemate trap.

Don't give up, learn to fight from a position of disadvantage and really push to the end. It isn't over until mate. You won't always be winning but that is also a skill you have to develop to come back from behind.

@Asuyuia @jepyang

Absolutely true. But also, there can be penalties for delaying resignation in lost positions. I've seen warnings when people have done that to me.

@ellesaurus @what lol, I'm clearly far from an expert, but yeah, this is where it's at.
