But yeah, it's just not a recognized flag.
And my entire point is that if you're going to have a flag for the version number (which it does have: go version), it should darn well start with a hyphen. 
I have already used the name for *MY* programming language
by fmccabe: I have been working on a programming language, also called Go, for the last 10 years. There have been papers published on this and I have a book. I would appreciate it if google changed...gopherbot (GitHub)
