The obvious choice for ActivityPub’s birthday would be the 23rd of January 2018 - the day it was annointed as a W3C recommendation. That doesn’t seem quite right though - its not as if the spec came into existence in any sense upon that date. In fact, Mastodon implemented it before thne.

There are several possible dates you might pick, but for me it will always be September 5th 2014 - when I committed the first sketch of a specification I called ActivityPump [github.com] and pushed it to Github

It wouldn’t be until November that I actually submitted (a revised and enhanced version of) that draft to the working group, but even then I had the very nucleus of the specification written down.

For much of the 2024 election, concerns about President Joe Biden’s age and job performance helped paper over the real and long-standing concerns Americans have had about Donald Trump’s character, chaotic style and authoritarian tendencies. A slew of polls actually showed Biden had little to no advantage on the subject of which candidate was more trusted to protect democracy — despite months of Democrats focusing on democracy and the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, which dealt a blow to the bedrock democratic principle of a peaceful transfer of power.

They do erase their responsibility for making those “concerns” central to public discourse, but I don’t see any passive voice (in the grammatical sense) in the sentence highlighted in blue. The underlined “which” clause in the next sentence does contain a passive-voice construction (“was … trusted”), but it seems to me that it would be clumsy to explicitly name its implied subject (the people who participated in the polls).

PSA: if the keyboard of your #Asus Laptop is not working with #Linux, it likely needs a quirk entry to handle that model properly, because either Asus or the #kernel is doing something stupid.

Here is an example of a quirk entry submission: lore.kernel.org/all/2024090301…

Seems Tamim Khan is willing to submit such quirks for other people, so just dropping a note (see the Link for the email address) might be enough to get things sorted out.
