The good professor's replies here are a cesspit of misogyny, in case anyone needs a reminder that sexism still exists. And all in response to an original post that was merely observing that it's troubling that an eminent physicist's research team was all white dudes.

"Climate action is fundamentally not about “saving the planet”, after all, but saving ourselves.

Shifting the framing of #ClimateChange from the environment to #PublicHealth is gaining support. The human costs of climate change, fossil fuel dependency and environmental destruction are enormous. A health framing could garner greater support for faster, deeper and more transformative action."

Any recommendations for a very low-frills #selfhosted #blog platform?

I'm thinking either #flatpress or #writefreely, but I'd like to hear any other suggestions.

I don't need analytics or monetization, I just want something that will organize and display mostly text-based posts with a navigation system of some sort. Bonus points if it can create posts by importing text files via cli. Federation would be a definite plus, too.

I've finally turned a workshop tutorial into a blog post 🎉 It's all about #rstats a and #python and how to use them together (and shows you what an equivalent approach might look like in the other language).

It also has resources for playing around with the code yourself to learn more about these languages and how to use them both in projects.

You can find it all here: bit.ly/pythonistr-tutorial

No one who's driven an EV will go back to an internal combustion gas engine.
No one who gets electricity from wind or solar or other renewables will go back to burning coal or oil.

The energy revolution needed to tackle #climatechange is better for society and the environment in countless additional ways.

Trump is not capable of coherent speaking anymore. His mind just dumps anything and everything in an incoherent stream of consciousness. It's never intended to be understood or make sense. It's just Trump loves to hear himself talk. If he wasn't Trump, he'd be in a home for mentally sick.

From the man who thinks you need ID to buy a loaf of bread. He isn't just going mad now. He was always completely out of touch with reality.

I have ported #systemd to #musl. Properly. Passing all tests, properly. Booting my 2012 Ivy Bridge in 3.2 seconds, properly.

I'm aware of how unpopular this will be in some circles. But change does not happen without competition, and musl environments deserve more than what they have right now. systemd isn't a panacea, it isn't even that great, but it's here, it solves real issues people have, and it's now an option. Not a requirement, but an option.

People in the media who amplify the pseudo-scientific nonsense of "13 keys" should feel shame.

OpenAI hits 1 million paid corporate users.

That’s 1 million paid users for corporate services including ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and ChatGPT Edu for universities, Bloomberg reports. Enterprise pricing varies, but one person claimed it could cost around $60 per user per month with a minimum of 150 users and a 12-month contract.

I always thought the only way AI might make some cash is through enterprise software bundling, especially with all the free users.
