It's mind-boggling that the publisher of the New York Times didn't post this on his own organization's website. His journalistic-solidarity reasoning is specious; he could have posted it in both places.
And it is perfectly in keeping with his organization's refusal to recognize reality -- and relentless normalization of extremists who hate democracy and want to kill freedom of the press -- that he can't grasp why the TImes needs to be activist in defense of democracy.
