Tour de Sevan with PM Pashinyan from a rider’s perspective. Easily one of the best organised group cycling events I’ve participated in anywhere. Looking forward to next year! byteseu.com/396345/ #Armenia #HayastaniHanrapetut'yun #RepublicOfArmenia #ՀայաստանիՀանրապետություն

#Telegram will start #moderating private chats after #CEO’s arrest

source: theverge.com/2024/9/5/24237254…

Earlier today, Durov issued his first public statement since his arrest, promising to moderate content more on the platform — a noticeable change in tone after the company initially said he had “nothing to hide”. “It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner are responsible for abuse of that platform,” the company wrote in an unattributed statement posted in August.

Reddit’s crisis is a warning for all social platforms:

when you trade community for profits, everyone loses.

Will Reddit fix its mess, or are we watching the death of the front page of the internet?

No one is asking for the paper to “directly oppose his reelection” in news analysis. But yeah, an editorial endorsing Harris (like the NYT did Biden) should come sooner than later.

We’re asking for the NYT to treat Trump EXACTLY like they did Biden. If age was an issue then, it’s an issue now. Clearly Trump is delusional and a serial liar. Put that front and center, dammit. Stop making him appear coherent.

With super typhoon winds, Yagi whirls towards Southern China

"Southern Chinese provinces and cities braced for the arrival of super TyphoonYagi, shutting schools and postponing flights ahead of its expected landfall along Hainan's subtropical coast in what could be the most powerful storm to hit China in years.

It has more than doubled its strength since devastating northern Philippines earlier this week."

"Industrial production in several northern provinces [of #Vietnam] was halted, 235,000 houses were damaged and more than 300,000 hectares of rice and cash crops were inundated."

And a possible new typhoon is forming.

"The possible new storm would approach the central city of Danang late on Thursday or early Friday, according to the weather agency."

Vietnam: New storm brings deadly #floods after Typhoon Yagi

"Earlier this month, #TyphoonYagi hit #Vietnam, leaving nearly 300 people dead and destroying property worth $1.6 billion (€1.4 billion).

However, before the country could recover from Yagi, it was hit by yet another intense storm last week, bringing torrential rainfall and causing the rivers to swell to dangerous levels."

I just wrote a post about the misogynistic a-hole on Donald Trump’s campaign staff who pushed a female employee at Arlington National Cemetery.
UPDATE: I thought it was Chris “I’m the a-hole who created Swift Boating” LaCivita, or Cory Lewandowski. But NPR just reported the two staffers, are deputy campaign manager Justin Caporale & Michel Picard, a member of Trump’s advance team.
Will the DoD & the DOJ go after them for what happened at Arlington?

Records from an eviction the previous year show that #ColinGray owned several weapons, including an #AR15, the type of firearm that ofcls say was used in the #SchoolShooting on Wed morning at #ApalacheeHighSchool in #Winder, #Georgia.

Mr. Gray said he wanted to get his son, Colt, now 14, interested in the outdoors, & away from video games…. The son, then 13, had recently shot his first deer, & his father kept a photo on his phone of the animal’s blood smeared on the boy’s cheeks…

well good thing he got away from those violent video games and into something more wholesome like [checks notes] slaughtering wildlife and children and smearing their blood on his body
