He didn’t. Instead he kept the missing checks & balances missing, he embraced them ”to do good”.

#authoritarianism is about submission and dominance, and we’re seeing a political climate where states’ submission to anything with AI in it’s name the primary driving force behind political outcomes.

This dominance/submission logic explains Anthropic’s IPO the easiest. People are yearning to submit, and raise these people’s technology to godhead status.

We swapped our yearning to fear god to this.

According to psychology research, apx 1/3 of any large population has what is called an "authoritarian mindset" (or something like that, it's been a while since I read the article). These people are psychologically predisposed to follow a "strongman" and willingly submit to #authoritarianism, #fascism, etc... because they want a "father figure" to follow.

#Trump is a terrible father figure, but about 30% of the population want a "Daddy", no matter how bad that daddy is.
